Also, someone needs to point out that the "extreme male mind" thing is not a prominent theory of anything; it's a layman's explanation of what autism is like. It has some merit but is not strictly correct.

I am. Yeah, I know I'm different but i'm happily me. I never been quite comfortable with general guy stereotypes. I'm never been officially diagnosed as having asperger's though I do have some of the traits I think. Right now, I'm exactly sure how do describe why I consider myself androgynous. Maybe its because I like shopping, when i dress and mix and match guys and girls clothes, I dance too.

What I'd like is to have other people to discuss this with. Hit me up on Yahoo Messenger, I'm jutty04901. However, if your a pervert, don't bother with me. I'm very uncomfortable with those types.

I disprove the theory daily, which I believe I said in my earlier post. I just meant it's how a lot of people describe AS, but yet it's not me at all. I may have lent it too much credence by using the phrase "Prominent Theory"

I've always felt gender and associated expected patterns of behavior to be silly. I do what I want, regardless of whether other people think it accurately matches the things between my legs and on my chest or not. If I like it and it doesn't hurt anyone, that's what's important. Not outdated stereotypes that should've died back in the 50s.

If the stereotypes are still around in 2008, obviously they're not outdated. I rather like the gender binary. It's what I'm used to.

I don't know about that. I consider myself more of a manly man. But yeah, I have seem a few aspies (assumed aspies at least) who are like that.

Hmmm...do not know. In my head I am a guy but I am happy to be, and look like, a gal on the outside. I think I act feminine, but have trouble relating to other women. I'm just fine with the term 'weird'.

I've been told more than once I'd be beautiful as a girl (before the facial hair turned to steel wool lol)

I was never able to feel it though... being 6'6" makes it hard to feel feminine...

Machismo was never my forte either, but thats what I was forced to learn to emulate.

I've been pretending so long I don't remember what's underneath any more.

I find that I'm not androgynous, myself, but my mother is. I'm kind of fascinated by androgyny, and I agree with those who said the gender patterns imposed by society are tired. I prefer more blurring of the 'line'.

I prefer not to blur the line. I prefer the line to be fantastically clear.

I like my homosexuals flaming. :D

well I am a man and I'm more sensitive than most. But there is nothing wrong with that at least I dont wear lipstick and run around with pants tighter than females wear  I'd have to say with the rising popularity in heterosexuals we couldnt have picked a better time in history to be androgynous
