The eyes test is useless. First of all in a real world situation a facial expression comes and goes fairly quickly, you can't sit there and study it like you can in this test. It's one thing to recognize expressions intuitivly (which is what NT's do) and another to analyze a still shot of a moment in time.

Next, in this test the eyes are the only feature shown. The reality is that people with AS do not focus on the eyes alone; they tend tofocus on all features individually, especialy the mouth.

Finaly, the test is multiple choice. If there were no choices and it was a write in test I'm willing to bet that most of you who took it would not be able to put a name to the look.

you are sooooo right. i had no idea what those looks are, but eliminated the other three choices that wouldn't fit, couldn't possibly fit. otherwise i'd get zero but i got twenty.

Systemizing quotient
Your score: 2 (low)

Empathy Quotient
Your score: 42 (Average, but less than average for women)

Autism Spectrum Qoutient
Your score: 19 (Average, but higher than both men and women)

Mine in the Eyes
Your score: 30 (Average, but high average)

Hmph.. so based on these tests I probably don't have Asperger's Syndrome... Maybe my therapist was right... Oh well, I'm still going to a specialist.

SQ: 57
EQ: 6
AQ: 44
Mind in the Eyes: 19 (I would have done much worse if I couldn't have eliminated 2 or 3. Some of them seemed to have no expression at all.)

Even with these scores I only consider myself a borderline aspie. Maybe I'm kidding myself. :?

I got:

Systemizing Quotient Test
Your score: 55
0 - 19 = low
20 - 39 = average (most women score about 24 and most men score about 30)
40 - 50 = above average (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score in this range)
51 - 80 is very high (three times as many people with Asperger Syndrome score in this range, compared to typical men, and almost no women score in this range)
80 is maximum

I am a woman, so that makes me even more unique I guess.

Empathy Quotient Test
Your score: 7
0 - 32 = low (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
33 - 52 = average (most women score about 47 and most men score about 42)
53 - 63 is above average
64 - 80 is very high
80 is maximum

Autism Spectrum Quotient Test
Your score: 41
0 - 10 = low
11 - 22 = average (most women score about 15 and most men score about 17)
23 - 31 = above average
32 - 50 is very high (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 35)
50 is maximum

Reading the mind in the eyes

Your score: 7
A typical score is in the range 22-30. If you scored over 30,
you are very accurate at decoding a person's facial expressions
around their eyes. A score under 22 indicates you find this quite difficult.

Guess it's a good thing I'm going to get tested and hopefully diagnosed next month. Kind of confirms what I've always known.

SQ: 31
EQ: 16
AQ: 39
Mind in Eye: 24

The problem I had with these is that the questions are generic and some don't particularly 'fit' my situation, see the following examples:

I found a few questions difficult, for example I had to think for a while that 'the theatre' could also cover the cinema as otherwise I couldn't really answer that question accturately - although I'd prefer the cinema to the museum and I can't find another example for museum that would suit me.

Had the minds eye test not had the multiple choice (and it's one in four chance) I would probably have got the majority of questions wrong as looking at the pictures and the answers there were someI would have trouble even guessing and some of my initial thoughts weren't even on the multiple choice list!

Still, it was interesting.

Have to agree with many of the other posters though, the mind in the eyes test is rubbish. I guessed at a lot of them, so in my veiw that test is worth nothing.

Also, I'm other of the "almost no females".... astonishing amount of us round here eh?

Actually I was surprised this was so low...

Autism Spectrum
Your score: 30
23 - 31 = above average

Personally I hate this expression test. 80% of all these pictures looked exactly the same to me. Like, are these eyes TERRIFIED or FLIRTATIOUS? Those two expressions aren't even related, but since the eyes don't look very expressive at all, I picked the blandest emotion listed. Alternately, I found alot of the "mild emotion" choices could possibly apply so I guessed quite frequently.

If this thread is going to keep getting bumped, can't it at least have the scores updated? I know 80 isn't the maximum score for the Systemizing Quotient anymore, for example, since I scored a 102 when I took it. :?
