I hate sticky surfaces and the worst are surfaces which have been touched by many hands. I can feel the oil from peoples' skin left behind all too easily.
the only part of this nightmare you skipped is wet handshakes and people who go to the trouble of washing their hands but then soak the door handle by ot drying hands first.
Bathrooms except my own are another place I don't touch anything unneccesary and wash hands touching nothing afterwards.
LOL I always thought I was the only weirdo who used my clothing to touch things when not able to find paper (tho a half ton of toilet paper works reasonably well)

Hehehehe. I'm sure there's more of us out there. But, actually, I'd prefer a water-wet door handle to a human-skin-oiled door handle. ICK! Water, to me, isn't sticky. Skin oil definitely is though.

Not that I'd WANT a water-wet door handle. But if I had to make a choice...

I'm not quite as uptight about it, but maybe 80-90% of that rings true with me. At my workplace, they routinely bring treats for holidays or on Sundays. I will eat the treats on Sunday mornings, because I'm one of the first 2 people there, and so they're untouched when they're laid out. Once other workers arrive, the treats are no longer appealing.

I have seen wayyyy too many people walk out of the bathroom without having washed their hands to have an appetite for anything they might have 'pawed'. Soemthign else that grosses me out- samples at grocery stores. Who knows how long they've been there? Soem places don't put toothpicks in teh samples- who knows how many have been touched or breathed on? Ick! I have to fight the impulse to stop the customers from trying the samples.....  but they don't seem to mind it so.....

I use a paper towel to turn the water off and also to open the door, or failing that, I pick up some part of my clothing and use that to open the door.

I am also weird about public bathrooms- if someone else is in there, I can't go until they leave. Their presence bothers me, however much pain I am in. I always check the seat to see if it needs to be wiped off- if it does, then I do so, and then I also cover the seat with a layer of toilet paper if the seat covers aren't available.

The list goes on.....

Another thing that really grosses me out: indoor pets, and people's behavior with cats and dogs. Don't they realize where that critter's tongue has been? (but they always insist that fluffy's mouth is cleaner than mine- I don't care, I woldn't kiss a dog or cat on the mouth or let it lick me without wantin to run and wash my hands ASAP!)

I'm OCD. But most of this germ paranoria seems really extreme to me. I was an obsessive handwasher at one point, but now I could care less for a lot of things. I am bugged by skin oils and wet handshakes, but I think most people are annoyed by wet handshakes. I don't see the point behind all the paranoria, worthless anxiety. Been there, done that, but never to that extreme.
