Wow Nocturnal thank you! That looks lovely! *reminds herself not to show too much enthusiasm, it's not socially appropriate. Wonders if NQ is taken and whether there are any single guys around*

Parties where not her thing, she preferred museums and nature walks, places of quiet and solitude. Places that where not general crowded with people and one that allowed her to roam at her leisure. Strangers made her nervous, people in general made her nervous. She was much more at home with the company of only a few or else in her own mind.

So why was she even here? Well for one, this promised not be your typical party. Ones with music so loud you had to shout to be heard and so many people you could hardly count them. Where people would drink themselves silly and act obnoxiously, yet it was considered typical parry behavior.

No, this one was for likeminded people who also shuddered from the mere thought of such an event. Not that such things couldn’t happen, but they where less likely to. The people at this party would have something in common with her, something that would hopefully help her interact easier, despite the fact they where strangers. Not that the apprehension she often got when going trough such would be gone completely. but it was be better or more bearable at least .

So with a deep breath McCann entered into the room. She paused for a moment to study the room and the occupants inside. Good, she was early. There where only a few people here. Although she studied them all briefly, she said nothing to anyone as she choose an empty seat. There was paper bag book clutched in her right hand, but she was determined not to open it. At least not yet. If was her safety net, something to fall back on if things got uneasey. She was dressed like most evreyone else, casualy with a red sports jersy, blue jeans and black sneakers.

Perhaps she should have tried speaking to someone. After all the purpose of coming here was to interact with others, not just sit and study them in silence. Easier said than done.

I'm still wearing my backpack, which contains needed survival supplies, and I'm scouting around for food--especially meat, which is difficult to get for me usually because I don't know how to cook it and the prepared stuff you get in grocery stores is salty; and anyway, it's too expensive for a food-stamp budget. If I find food, I'll grab about 600 calories' worth, and go find a corner seat that isn't already taken.

*Walks in, quickly scans the surroundings. Makes a quizzical expression. Decides to ignore everyone and goes straight for the food. Has two-and-a-half plates heaped with various food, which is consumed in an off-to-the-side recliner. Steeples fingers and tries to avert gaze so as not to confront anyone. After a few minutes, gets up and asks the bartender for some cabernet. Takes time to finish it, then decides to go home.* Oh, me.

*Helps herself to some sweets*

"That's a lot of sweets, aren't you worried about getting fat?"
"No because I don't do this everyday," I said. "I love sweets, I'm a sweet person. Get it?"
