My fine motor skills are an absolute nightmare, and always have been. They did a lot of tests when I was in 1st grade, and they said I was holding my pencil/pen the wrong way. I don't care, because now I use a computer to write EVERYTHING.

If I can't use a computer, I print everything I can. Never could understand teachers who would insist that I had to use cursive. Took so long and looked funky.

It's horrible, but it's readable. I've had a lot of practice. Actually I copy my brothers way of writing which are fat round letters. Kind of like a font.
I don't even know how to hold a pencil. In year 2 my teachers kept forcing me to hold my pencil the right way and kids made fun of me.
I had a bump on my thumb where the pencil would rub against.
I don't care anymore because I use the computer. Writing too long gives my hands cramps.

My handwriting is, in a word, dreadful.

Like my first grade teacher told me, it is "atrocious." (Great way to talk to a first grader  )

I firmly believe it is an AS thing.

It has to do with motor skills.

Growing up, my handwriting was excellent, both printed and cursive. This was during the sixties, before computers or even electric typewriters. Handwriting was an actual separate subject, and I always excelled at it. I've even done a little calligraphy (but not at anything like a professional level).

At some point in my 20s, I developed a combination of cursive and printed handwriting, which I've used ever since. I don't write a lot anymore since I have a laptop, and when I do, my hand gets cramped easily. I also find I don't have the patience I once had for handwriting, so it comes out kind of average. Having a computer has increased my expectation of doing things speedily, and it's hard to be speedy and have good handwriting.

Even though I'm an aspie, I've never had poor motor skills--played all kinds of sports requiring good hand-eye coordination, good at handwriting, etc. These days, however, I'm a complete klutz, and bang into things all the time. I have bruises on my legs that I don't even know where they came from, that's how often I run into things.

Terrible and it never seems to improve. Even my math teacher condemns it.

my 10th grade religion teacher refused to grade an essay on my test once because my hand writing was so horrid. wasn't my fault there were no lines on the paper. my writing has a tendency to curve downward.

Crappy and it's gotten worse over time... I remember in grade 5, the teacher gave pens to those who had neat handwriting. Do you think I ever got that pen?

My handwriting resembles a 7 year olds. People are always like, "Wow you're handwriting is really bad" or "Who's chickenscratch is this? It looks like my four year old brothers?" << that last one was in church, back when I went. =(

I also can't colour in the lines at all, I remember I worked really hard on this project in fifth grade for health, and got everything almost entirely in the lines, and I was sooooooo proud and the teacher yelled at me for "rushing" and being so sloppy. I think when he first saw it he was like, "This is crap!" ;_;

I have very nice handwriting when I want to, but then when I was a kid one of my obsessions was handwriting. I loved how nice it was and practiced copying other people styles over and over again.

The amount of walls/cupboards/letters/mirrors/randowm pieces of paper that hasd writing on them, I'm suprised my mother didn't have a meltdown with me!

I've been told my handwriting is pretty nice.

Just about 15 minutes ago, as it happens, my roommate who is studying graphology analyzed my handwriting and our other roommate's. He made some generalizations about the other guy's writing, but he said with mine it was very difficult to make anything of it aside from a couple of small things.

Doesn't give me a lot of faith in handwriting analysis, but I'd be curious to know what a professional has to say.

My cursive is illegible but manuscript is alright as long as the paper is lined. I try always have a laptop or blackberry handy. I am much faster with those than writing.

I have a tendancy to push too hard and break the lead on pencils or ruin pens that aren't ball point. It is probably related that my hand cramps up when I write.
