Or as if the autistic traits aren't there.

For example, social anxiety can lead to that a person avoids social contact. In that situation in which they avoid social interaction due to their anxiety, they won't experience the inability to read non-verbal cues which is due to autism.

Definitely agree. You could also have a similar instance where a psychologist diagnoses social anxiety as the predominant problem and claims that this is what is making social interaction so difficult for the person, while, in fact, it was their difficulty in interacting due to autism caused them to develop social anxiety.

One diagnostician screened me out for AS without seeing me in person because I have a history with my GP of treatment for depression. He seemed to think that it was the depression that was somehow impairing my social interaction. Does it not occur to him that the reverse could be true, and my social difficulties were one of the factors that caused me to become depressed?

OCD is the main one I have, but that's easy to treat. Funnily enough, treating the long standing OCD is what actually led to finding out about the ASD, i.e., there was still something wrong with me even though the OCD was beaten down via medication and CBT (it's like an onion).

OCD is just one way for anxiety to manifest, and I suffer from high levels of anxiety due to the ASD; the equation is easy.

What exactly *are* the official co-existing conditions? I probably have at least half of them.

oh, I forgot one. I'm not sure if it's on the list, but I'll include it.
I've not been diagnosed, but I know I have it, and have for many years:
Trichotillomania

I don't have any of these officially;

I may have ADHD officially soon.

I have tics, which may be tourette's or just a plain tic disorder because of vocal + motor tics that don't quite seem to vanish. They have been minutely a few years ago, but currently I go days without any tic or just very few (like, 10 or so a day at worst).
