something a little more sublime than optimistic.

If I am not overly stressed or anxious, I am generally in a good mood and have a hopeful outlook.
Yet I'm not always happy and cheerful and sunny... not at all.
Some days I feel terrible and I don't feel anything positive about the world.
Yet if I stop for half a second and think about it,
I come back to rest on what I consider to be the truth of the matter, which is something akin to what prillix said, "there is no glass."

Years ago I realized what some call "non-dualism". No good and evil. No half-full/half-empty. No black and white. No yin and yang. There is no glass. Or in other words, you are the glass.

So as I consider my emotional state, yes I am sort of optimistic, but that is because I see the non-dualism that unifies our existence and the formless void beyond all of it.

OK
*steps off soapbox*
sorry for the sermon there, but you got me thinking....

depends on my mood. Good mood=optimistic; bad mood=pessimistic

I'm with the no-glass-people on this one. I'm not very good at putting values to events or thoughts. For me, stuff just is.

I am between realist and optimist.

I like to consider the actual situation in a most realistic manner. And when it's time for a decision, I make these way too impulsive and optimistic decisions, because I'm feeling ardent.

But when it comes to the future, I am overly optimistic. Even a little fantastic, I guess. At least others say that's a too fantastic (=negative) attitude.

I'd say I'm a realist on the cusp of pessimistic on most days. Every now and again I'm a realist on the cusp of optimistic.

Generally I'm optimistic, but perhaps pesimistic if I'm upset.
