I am afraid of the vast majority of my peers. Negative feedback loop.

I get along with my peers but I still feel different, and I don't like spending too much time with them.

I am an Old Aspie (73). I have adapted myself be be comfortable among the NTs without being an NT. I am married to an NT and all but one of my children seem to be NT. Since I am rules oriented, I learned how to break down living with NTs into tasks or modules then I mastered each one. Now I can ever "pass" for NT, when I am in the company of NTs. I don't do this because I am ashamed to be an Aspie. I do this to minimize hassles and friction. Life is much too short be be hung up by unnecessary difficulty.

So to answer you question I get along fine with both my Apie peers and my NT peers.

That's what I was going to say.

Ditto.

I have no friends. No real peers in the workplace either. I can't say that I relate to or spend much time with any other human beings right now (other than my son and his mother). I don't feel exactly great about that, but it's not something I dwell on. The plants in my garden are fascinating company.

my best friend is my age but most of my friends are about 2 or so years younger than me. I've never really got on with my "peers". I find that younger people find my sense of humour funny where-as the people my age think I'm just immature

The main pressure that I ever have felt around my peers was their pressure, and at times a very discourtesy pressure at that, of their wishing that I were somewhere else. And when I realized this, I began wishing it, too.

Most of my peers are pretty odd themselves. I have a mostly passive relationship with the majority.

That all depends on how how you define 'peers.' If I were to define it as 'Intellectual/artistic/philosophical people with generally liberal political leanings, shared interests and mensa-level IQs,' then I do very well, regardless of their age or ethnicity. If I were to define 'peers' in the more traditional sense, meaning people of my own age group and socio-economic class and/or ethnicity, then I can get by, so long as the interaction remains brief and superficial.

I like the company of those who love me. I like the company of my pitbull. I like the company of 'sweet' little children. I like the company of people who are 'innocent' and therefore trustworthy and predictable. I do not like the company of 'fake socializers'.

I tend to get along better with older people (especially when telling them my odd theories or whatever is related to the class for example), i get along so and so with the younger folk. I can't seem to get along too well with most people my age, but there has been exceptions. =/ I guess that as "little professors" we only get along with those that also teach, and those who wish to learn... =/

I do get along better when there is an age difference, as it allows me to behave in one of my two more normal states, that of a child, and that of the extremely mature person who enjoys talking on a level for those who are more educated.

As for peers... I don't think I have anyone around me I would call a friend... and I find that sad in some ways. Worse yet, I don't know how to get into a relationship, and all I want in life is to raise a family, and I can't even hit the first step...
