Why would your parents plan to do that? Did they carry out this plan?

Did you throw them away?
I had an 80286 motherboard that I wanted to frame and hang on the wall as a piece of contemporary art. My parents weren't thrilled. After I left my previous job, my former coworkers discovered a secret treasure cache in one of the cabinets, hiding defective CD-ROMs, bad network cards, broken hard drives and various cables. You never know what can be useful. For example SIMMs, DIMMs and other memory modules make good bookmarks. And what would you say about the 5 1/4" floppy drive or a 2 ft long CGA (Color Graphics Adapter) with 8-bit XT connector? I don't suppose that Windows XP supports the latter, but this is not a reason to throw out a piece of history!
