They had it in 5th and 8th grade. My gym teacher was so embarrassed, he played the radio skit of 'who's on first?' (Abbott and Costello...not the Elvis one...;) Fortunately, I had ample opportunities to find out about sex from movies and books, before the Reagan years...;)

I'd laugh if we got to watch Sex And The City in sex ed class, LOL. That'd be awesome.

first let me say "sorry for being rude" if thats the case...

are your teachers stupid?.. aids is transfered with body fluids, wether its from the mouth or whatever... if you have a small cut or something like that in you mouth it could get into your bloodstream like that... also, i dont how about semen, but i beleive its 20 liters of saliva you would have to drink to get aids.. but theres alot more dna in semen so it wouldnt surprice me if it werent much...

There wasn't much laughing in my class while the teacher was talking...only when we had to talk in groups, cos people kept being silly and talking about prostitutes.

In our school PSHE they basically told us there was no problem with smoking cannabis other than it's illegal. Oh, and they also told us it's legal to have sex in public. 8O

As for teaching 14 year olds about condoms - they don't necessarily know, and if they don't is a big problems so they should teaching you just in case! What I thought was really dumb is teaching 13 year olds about puberty. I started puberty at 9. It was mostly over by the time I was 13. It was really stupid and irritating.

I also don't like sex ed because I think they put pressure on people to lose thier virginity by saying "Oh don't feel ashamed to be a virgin" all the time. It makes me think "I'm not ashamed. Why? Should I be?" Also when they keep saying "the majority of people are virgins until they are 16" (because 16 is the legal age over here) it's not really the most 'reassuring' statistic if you were worried about being a virgin as 'majority' only really means more than 50% and I'm 18 and I'm a virgin and so are most of my friends and many others I know my age and if it was that 'rare' I wouldn't know all these 18 year old virgins.

Teachers aren't professors. Don't look too much into it.

I read in More magazine (or might have been Cosmo, I forget) that the British police have been told not to bust people for having sex in public anymore, so you can still do it and they'll just turn a blind eye.

Also on that subject, in Budapest, Hungary, they film porn in the streets (I just had to mention that, LOL).

Why is it that when my teachers taught sex ed they always claimed that it is impossible to get aids orally?

Quite unlikely, but possible:

Saliva has some antiseptic characteristics and can solve to certain amount fat. HIV is covered with a lipid membrane which can be destroyed by saliva. But if you have even a very small nearly undetectable wound and not all HIV has been destroyed than an infection is possible.

So you need to see how much risk you are willing to take for how much fun ...
