My car had a flat tire in a small town and I had it replaced at Wal Mart because I was far from home and worried about driving a distance on the spare. This guy was at the Wal Mart tire and lube, fixing the key machine (he bought a vending route and it belonged to him). If I knew how to fix the machines and they didn't break all the time being a vendor wouldn't be a bad job at all.

Yes, for 5 years. I loved it, I could work 25-30 hour weeks and bring in about $1500 a month.
How did you do?
Great! My best time ever was leaving the store with 5 different orders (on different streets) at once and making it back from them all in 25 minutes. I was the 2nd highest paid driver.
how was driving?
I love driving. I love delivery jobs.
Were you pressured to rush to your destination?
Only by myself. Most people only take 1, maybe 2 orders out at a time, which is pretty easy. But I knew I could do more so I did.

This is pretty much my experience as well.
I've done pizza delivery on and off for 9 years.
I currently work this job on weekends, and substitute-teach all week.
Together, the two incomes basically cover my expenses.

Delivery is a job that rewards my geographical skills and ability to discern ultimate efficiency within a wide variety of potential routes.

I love to drive, where I am free to be myself and listen to my music, and enjoy the sensory experiences of the out-of-doors.

Interaction with people is brief, and can purely objective. I like to treat it like an ongoing sociological study. Really interesting trends emerge within the limited and understandable structure of the job.

The only part I've had trouble with is the occasional taking orders over the phone. I have auditory processing problems, particularly with the telephone, so this is just a manifestation it.
