It's really important to me right now, since I've got a superior verbal IQ and an average performance IQ, and I have to show that I function at an IQ equivalent of 70 in order to get DD services like case-management, life management, med management, budgeting and extra benefits.

It's a really big deal to me right now. :(

My test is Tuesday and I'm nervous.

well good luck and i hope you score in accordance with whatever makes your life peaceful, cruisy and whitetiger's.

Whether your IQ score matters or not depends on what it is. Same as how whether your AQ or AspieQuiz score matters or not depends on what it is. Same as height, weight, shoe size, income . . . The more average you are, the less relevant it is.

The more 'average' you are the more 'invisible' you are, hence safer and not as likely to be singled out of the crowd becasue you are just ever so slightly 'different' than the rest of the little marbles rolling around on the hard limestone surface of the playground.

I think it's ridiculous that hardly anyone shares their IQ score if it's below 120 or so. On the internet everyone is above average. I think this proves that it's mostly an ego thing.

Well you know the old myth about IQ and penis size.

Whoah wait a minute. I think I got that wrong. The myth is about shoe size and penis length or index finger length and penis size. Is that right? I don't have a very high IQ. Wait a minute and if I can find my penis and get a hold of it I might be able to figure out my IQ!! !

I don't think they are necessarily funny. If the poster is really concerned maybe it's because of an inner insecurity? They want to be reassured they have what it takes to make it in the world. Probably, the posters who post IQ result threads are in school or college where IQ tests are of more relevance. People correlate ease writing term papers, ability to solve complex equations, understanding research and how to conduct test studies, as well as advanced foreign language skills with higher IQ test results. Undergrads are sometimes stressed over making high enough grades to get into grad school so they might obsess on IQ because it's an allegory for overall college performance.

#1 Mine's important, yes.

The score was the reason why I got the AS diagnosis instead of a HFA diagnosis.

Big thing.

#2 Also, people constantly tell me my IQ scores should make me good if not awesome at school but I did horrible. Lots of expectation sand quizzes professionals and nobody can help me.

That's really not exactly unimportant to me.

#3 I love to differentiate between HFA and AS because I'm addicted to categories and definitions, even if I don't believe in them.

The IQ test itself interests me. I really don't think it measures as much as people think it measures, or accurately measures the skills of autistic people; but that's part of the reason it does interest me. If I were going into psychology, I would want to design a test that measured different sorts of cognition without attempting to produce an overall score, in order to show up what people were good at and where they might need help. The IQ subtests are the closest to that, but so many of them use multiple skills, and some of them overlap, and you can really only get a rough picture. Plus there's the problem of getting an actual ability to show up on the test at all, when there's a communication, attention, or other sort of deficit. It's an interesting problem. Almost makes me sorry I'm not going into psychology.

It is interesting to contemplate the possiblities of intellectual diversity but keep in mind that to cannibals the human brain is just a food source.

Well said, that's exactly how I feel about it.

Yes this is exactly why I personally try to be so 'average' and 'invisible' here on the forums.
