I'd like to be rediagnosed. A DX of Asperger's fit me when I was younger, but now I think I don't have it... due to only fitting one of the section A criteria, not two like it requires.

Could someone out there please explain to this aspie why rediagnosing is called for by some?

I can never figure things out.

Because people change?

To get a diagnosis, citeria C - the disturbance causes clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning - must be applicable. That won't aplly to a lot of people who were diagnosed as children, even though they fit the other criteria. So, by definition, they don't have aspergers.

Good luck on the rediagnosis. I was myself rediagnosed only 9 months after my initial diagnosis, because the original doc threw away the testing material and new shrink didn't want t take the dx just from a letter from old doc saying I had AS.
