I have two of Temple's books: Thinking in Pictures..., and The Way I See It. I first heard of her when I saw a news link for "A woman who talks to animals." I thought, "Who could this be?" Then I watched the news feed and here was this woman lying in a pasture and these cows came up to her. Then I learned she was autistic. That is how I first knew of Temple. I like her books, I find them very resourceful and easy to read---which is good for me. I particularly like The Way I See It.

I agree with the statement garyww made about the fact that she should be respected for whatever views she has. I believe that although whitetiger seemed to come off as feeling "betrayed," I believe she still respects and admires Temple. But some people here have really seemed to blast Temple. And as garyww said, she should still be respected. I would love to meet her in person---but at the same time, I would not want to be cured---I strongly feel as though autism is a difference and not a disorder. But there are others who view it in different ways. I respect that.

I believe that we that are autistic should respect each others's opinions. That is something that can make us truly exceptional people. For the most part, the WrongPlanet is peaceful when compared to other forums. Just look at comments on Youtube---it's hard to get past one comment without seeing insulting four letter words blasting others.

This is a bit off topic, but I want to add it anyway. I was on Reverend Billy Graham's website some time ago and he had a link to the imprisoned serial killer Son of Sam---David Berkowitz. I thought, "WHAT?" I clicked on the link and found out that David Berkowitz is now known as the Son of Hope---he conducts ministries in prison. He says he is now a Christian. Who am I to judge?

I saw something by her about autistics being emotionally simple due to the lack of some sort of connection in our brains, like we don't have mixed emotions. I didn't really think it described me personally.
