More concerned for objects than people?

This is definitely something I identify with.
Cherished objects take precedence over people's well-being and emotions almost automatically.
I really have to invest a tremendous amount of effort to keep human stuff on my "radar".

If I am outside with my son, I will immediately drift off mentally into a plant-fantasy-land, where all my attention is focused intently on the plants. I have to practically kick myself to stay aware of what he is doing and make sure he is safe. I obviously care about my son, but... the objects (plants) consume my mind almost completely and seem to "matter" more.

Times when we've had hurricanes, and we were in at least marginal danger from the storm, my first reaction was always, "what will I do about the garden?" .... Not the expected concerns for safe shelter, food, water, and other immediate needs.

OK, I'll say it... I LIKE PLANTS MORE THAN PEOPLE. So there. :wink:
