As handedness also seems to relate to neurology and therefore personality, it would be interesting to make some kind of study comparing right handed AS people with left handed AS people, and see how they present; typically or atypically?

For a lot of reasons, I see me as being left brain dominant. I DO favor my right. I CAN have good dexterity in my left, and am poor in some left brained tasks.

I'm 98% Left-Handed. The only things I do right handed is when I'm drinking (Of glass, bottle, can etc.), and when I'm cutting with scissors. The last one is because I was forced to (No Left-handed scissors at home or school). Everything else is left-handed, and I have no troubles in using a pair of left-handed scissors either.

Funny, earlier on I was fascinated about "Left-Handing" too. I still am a little. :D

I am left handed, and the tendencies listed fit me pretty good. I used to draw a lot of a kid, but not so much for art reasons as much as creative. I don't think I'm artistic, and I don't think I'm too creative much anymore, but I know people who know me would beg to differ.

I've noticed a lot of people have trouble with right handed scissors. My difficulty with those stopped in the second grade. Scissors work when the blades are pressed together, and I noticed that back then. So, I just pressed the blades together with my left hand, and I was cutting with right handed scissors. This wasn't very comfortable, but I had no left handed scissors available.

My mother and her husband are both left handed. My mom is similar to me and troubles with interaction with people. Her husband is also shy and tends to be aloof. We're all pretty similar.

I have also wondered if there is a more lefty-dominant version of AS...that presents it'self differently...I pretty much assume that there is...and if I do have AS..then that is where I fit...

I am a non-mathematical...artsy-type ...whatever I am...

Funny...even though I am right brain dominant...I also seem to have some troubles with the functioning of that hemisphere. It is the crux of many of my dysfunctions actually.

For example. my left eye...which is my dominant eye...supposedly controlled by the right side of my brain..is my very bad eye.

You pretty much described me there, and I'm a left hander. I've read quite a bit about left handeness, I wonder if being a leftie is what makes me the way I am and I don't aspergers, or maybe they are related.

I am ambidextrous. So was my AS-ish maternal grandfather.

My NT (but very introverted) Paternal Grandfather is a leftie - the only one I know of in the family.

I'm left-handed, as is my normal mother.

I never had problems adapting.

^ :? I am right-handed and creative but also have a funny thing in my brain where i write mirror writing fluently starting from the right hand side of the page and moving to the left. It looks very beautiful and almost "ancient script" like.
But i am not left-handed. Maybe very mildly ambidextrous as i can do some painting with left hand.

I don't actually see any correlation between left handedness and creativity.

My boyfriend is left-handed...yet tends to be ambidextrous as well for certain things and he fits your descriptions to a T. He is a very creative person in terms of writing.

I am curious about other things that might tend to be spectrum related too, but am too nervous to ask. LOL

Left-handedness is supposedly a prominent feature in various neurological disorders.

since my earliest moments, i can remember being left handed while noticing most others were not.........it was very difficult because i could never color good, write good, cut with scissors worth a crap, lol.....god everyone thought i was hopeless..couldnt't even tie my shoe right until i was about 7, lol

anyway, i always notice when someone is a lefty, usually if you eat or write lefthanded, your left handed, BUT NOT ALWAYS......most lefties will swing a golf club righthanded and swing a baseball bat righty, BUT NOT ALWAYS

things i have noticed about left handed people over my lifetime:

-they tend to have high intelligence

-they tend to be more eccentric
-they tend to have drier sense of humors

now i say these are tendencies and not rules..................but i have observed the left hander for many years

are you DOMINANT left handed???

Yep, all that stuff applies heavily to me, although some of those traits you listed (eccentric, loner type, aloof/shy, etc.) are also prominent aspie traits too, so they could come from either one (or, in my case, be even more amplified).

Indeed, I'm interested in this too. I'd definitely describe myself as the "artistic", very lefty version of AS. I do almost everything with my left hand; it has far more dexterity and is stronger than my right; I also see better out of my left eye, kick better with my left foot, etc. etc. Very right brain dominant. However, I have an interest in technical information as well. Honestly I'm pretty much good at everything on both sides of the concrete/abstract spectrum, so it's somewhat balanced out for me.

Oh yeah, the only left-handers in the class that I work in are the learning disabled/borderline MR kids.

Curious incident.

I'm Idon'tknowwhat, personally.

Didn't have a preference as a kid and then it all got mixed up.
