I've received a few tickets and been in 3 crashes, but then again, I'm 23, so I have some driving experience - and the accidents were not my fault.

But honestly, driving is fun when you're not in traffic - but for average commuting, I would rather take my bike and bus - even if I have to get up an hour early. Not having to drive through the cheese grater that is modern-day traffic is a relief.

I refuse to take driving lessons for now because I don't feel I can manage.

It demands my utmost concentration to cross a road. So it's beyond me why most people I know tell me I would do perfectly fine with driving in their opinion.

I can drive in my town because it is small and i've lived here all of my life. But if I have to drive around an unfamiliar town (especially getting there on the interstate hwy) I get overwhelmed and will have a meltdown because of all the cars going besides me, and the big rigs bother me too because of the noise.

I don't drive for medical reasons. My nonverbal learning disability is too severe. My doctor sent a letter to the DMV.

I love driving on rural roads, sadly I no longer have either of the two cars which I loved the most. My current car is OK but not as much fun to drive as my first car was.

I’m a good driver. I even have a commercial drivers license even though I never use it; but I hate going to places like the downtown Los Angeles , Woodland Hills, Bel Air, Sherman Oaks or Beverly Hills. People in those places drive like a nut job. Probably because they can afford to buy insurance up the kazoo.

I don't even own a driving license. But I love to be on the copilot seat, with a map and enjoying the road.

"I'm an excellent driver" :)

All joking aside, when I just started taking driving lessons, I had lots of trouble learning to "think ahead". Instead, I only kept looking at what was right in front of me. I guess you could say I was "overwhelmed" by all the information you have to take in continually while driving.

The technical aspects of handling the car came quite naturally to me, but I had to take lots of lessons just to "get" the looking-ahead bit.

Sometimes I have to concentrate very hard not to freak out. For example, I can really let it get to me when I'm in an unfamiliar environment and am already late for a meeting. :(

Not to mention D.C. - the taxi drivers take on Mack dump trucks, which is enough to scare the living sh!t out of you.

I gotta say that I love driving. While it was probably amusing (not for me but for anyone watching) for the first day that i owned it, my first car was a manual shift. Now that i have had it for a while, i say that although it kinda sucks when your at a crawl in heavy trafic or constant starts and stops in a large city.. I will always prefer it over an automatic.

I drive, but it's my least favorite thing to do. I've had some bad experiences with it during the 20 years I've had my licence but, thankfully none that hurt anybody. Well, actually, back in highschool, something apparently happened and I woke up in hospital with 3 fractured vertibrae and no car to drive.

I learned to drive in a car with manual transmission, but due to that being a ridiculous method of changing gears while driving in the real world, I prefer automatics.

In my adult years, I've driven in many different cities and other environments. I've learned that it's best to just not worry about the interaction of other people on the road and just follow the road laws. I can generally drive where I want, but I'd still rather be playing music, building something, learning something that doesn't require human interaction, or skating.

To the OP, I think you should do the driving. Let your boyfriend plan out his erronds with you so that your togetherness is fun and casual.

I drive a small car and a large older pickup truck. I just recently started driving the truck. Getting used to that thing is hard, but I love it. F-250 turbo diesel. Only thing I really want to change is the seats. That thing has one of the worst bench seats for driving I've ever seen. Need to see how much it will cost to replace the front seats with bucket seats.

I love to drive, but hate to be on the road with other people.
This is something of a problem considering I live in a highly populated metropolitan area with a penchant for road rage and virtually nonexistant public transportation.

I am a very good driver, though. I have a fantastic sense of geography, and I never get lost. I also never get into collisions, and that's not because I always drive safely. I'm just good at anticipating driving conditions. 8)

I LOVE driving. I always worry my mom because I am constantly going on long road trips voluntarily. I have driven to Nevada (from Sacramento, CA) a number of times and gone as far as Fallon, about 200 miles one way. I have been to Silicon Valley (120 miles) a lot too. I can drive in virtually any environment except San Francisco, too many pedestrians and the city is not designed for cars but has narrow streets more suited for 19th century conveyances like wagons. I do find driving to San Jose far more tiring than driving to Reno, because the drive to San Jose is all urban traffic for at least two hours of driving.

My grandfather, who was likely AS, was a long haul truck driver during World War 2, after he was let go from the army because his appendix burst but he wanted to help the war effort, so the army hired him as a civilian to drive gasoline trucks and such. I currently drive a Nissan Sentra sedan but hate it, I really want a Toyota FJ, the American version of the FJ jeep that can be seen at toyota.com under "FJ Cruiser". The Sentra was a family hand me down, it had been my great grandfather's car and then my mom drove it for a while, and when she got a Corolla she gave me the Nissan and I had no choice but to take it.

I found learning to drive near impossible, as I had to focus on so many things at once, it was like trying to contract a muscle that wasn't there. I'm fine if I can learn one aspect first until it becomes second nature then move on to other ones, but there wasn't much scope for that when learning to drive. I was crap at coordinating things, and I would do things like focus on getting a manoeuvre right to the point that I'd fail to notice that I was about to ram another vehicle.

I hated having my driving instructor constantly point that out. It did my head in, because I was genuinely trying.

I was fine once I had eventually learned all these things, though. It just took time for them to become second nature instead of needing concentration.

I don't drive at the moment, as I failed my test. Hopefully I won't have too much trouble learning it again, I haven't driven in about 2 years.
