That's actually incorrect. AS is a disorder under the spectrum of conditions called PDDs, which may soon change to ASDs. Autistic Disorder is the same way, i.e., a disorder under the umbrella of PDDs/ASDs.

I think you mean Autism/Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

I wrote down Asperger's because I was diagnosed with it and had a language learning delay. Though, I sometimes wonder whether I meet all of the criteria for AS and ponder if I'm considered PDD-NOS.

I would have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome today.

YEAH. "Autistic Disorder" is now more properly known as "Classical Autism", or "Kanners...".

But as I have understood it, you don't need to have had a speech delay to be diagnosed with Asperger's. I have read that the difference between HFA and AS is that people with AS didn't have a speech delay, but people with HFA did.

I thought Americans do use autistic disorder more often? I thought it's just us Europeans who use the ICD-10 who - often - don't even know that term and speak of infantile or classical autism?

PDD-NOS might get reevaluated for AS.

I'm assuming no one here has Rett's Disorder, it is more common in girls, but is any one with this form of Autism functional enough to go onto this site and talk?

Rett's isn't as severe as Autistic Disorder in regards to communicative problems, so yes, they could post here; it's just a very rare disorder.

No....I was just explaining why I rule out HFA...

I am most likely a PDD-NOS/ADDer

I am assessed as having Asperger's, but it was not a real diagnosis, and I am somewhat atypical for an aspie.

OK, then. :) I maybe misunderstood it a bit.
