Wow this is great, thanks for your replies.. good to know I am not alone in this! My husband doesn't get how I need to have extra "stuff" clogging up the bed.. I get very anxious if my stuff is not in my bed!

I've discovered that I sleep much better when I am balled up in a corner, covered in piles of blankets and pillows. I find the pressure and warmth to be calming. The only problem is... all that covering causes me to sweat, and the odor gets into the bedthings and tends to make my room smell, unless I am constantly washing the stuff.

I have tons of pillows and blankets; I always hug my pillows when I sleep. I have had some of those fluffy lambskin pillow covers literally since I was born and can't sleep without one on my pillow...I don't like how cold pillows and sheets feel. :)

Yeah. I have stuffed SpongeBob toys in my bed. Thry kinda help me sleep, but the toys have to go in an order. The smaller Patrick goes on my right, the bigger Patrick goes on my left and the SpongeBob goes on the left edge of my bed.

sorry for bumping, but it's great to hear that I'm not alone. I can't do anything without my stuffed animals. I MUST have at least 2 of them, but I like to have 8 or 9. My stuffed dolphin and dog go everywhere with me. That is one thing my mom hasn't tried to take away.

I have 2 pillows under me, 3 duvets because I like the heaviness, cotton wool in my ears, several stuffed animals including a slithery lizard (I love those, I have a huge collection) and a long dagger by my bedside (I'm obsessed with blades, for some reason.).

We call it Mojo in my family. It provides context to situations and keeps one centered. When you feel yourself becoming confused, you focus on an object that represents the known. You practice meditating upon your objects and imbue them with power. By going to sleep with it every night, it represents the calming that comes from properly processed data being integrated into your self. External reminders of the Internal, and the way in which they are one and the same.

I was collecting stuffed animals before I moved across country and had to leave them.. and yes, I slept with them. Without them, I tend to hug a pillow.

HOWEVER, my new kitten actually likes to snuggle with me while I'm sleeping and he often fits himself snugly in the bend of my arm and it's so nice to have a cuddly kitty there!

I have two Sids from Flushed Away that I alternate each night. I feel safer when I have Sid in my arms. My little Sids are my babies.

I like to surround myself with pillows and I have one of those body pillows. Someone commented it si more like a nest than a bed. :D

Some of this is not OCD rituals. If you like something leaning against you that's called proprioceptive feedback. It actually does make some people calmer.

<----- i sleep with this little guy. i made him myself, he's my baby. i originally made him to be a "spy vs spy" doll, but he ended up developing his own personality, quirks and manner of "speaking". i guess you could say he's my "Wilson". there's something about the way his body and eyes and shape turned out that i could never duplicate, as though that's how he was meant to look. i don't know what i'd do if i ever lost him.

I used to do it all the time with a stuffed bear back when I was a teen (older teen, too, btw. Yeah, my social circle didn't know about THAT.), myself. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting a little company/security to protect you from loneliness, though I do a lot more solitary sleeping nowadays (will sometimes sleep with one of the cats or the German Shepherd.)

I also have this little blue haired doll named Addison. I have a sleeping bag for her and all, she 'sleeps' on the shelf by my bedside.

I sleep with and carry around a HUGE stuffed black panther. I have two blankets, one is an old ratty thing with a certain fleecy texture that I love, the other has an assortment of animal prints and things which I lose myself in.

The black panther is my main one, but I have others on my bed that I use as stimming toys and crap like that, along with some pillows an things. I'm not overly attached to these others, it would just seem lonely sleeping without them. 8O

They say pictures make a house a home, well I think stuffed animals, pillows and blankets make a mattress a bed! :D

I sleep with my stuffed animals. Always have and (hopefully) always will. I need a stuffed animal with me in order to sleep.
I even use them as a pillow sometimes.
