I'm hearing a lot about Nightwish on here. Never heard of em but I took a listen on Amazon.com. Would it be fair to say they're kinds like Threshold in the progressive metal sense?

Nightwish is "Symphonic Metal". It's almost like listening to a rock musical. The female singer's voice is very classical sounding (she has training), and you don't hear the guy sing very often. Just download a few songs.

Nothing wrong with liking classical music and operas! Lucia Di Lammermoor is currently in my CD player, and among my CD collection are lots of classical and opera CDs. Although I like listening to operas better once I've seen them

No offence to eether of you, but I cant stand classical, and i find opera even worse.

Because it's the most boring type of music on the planet. Well maybe not, but it's pretty boring still IMO.

There are many many reasons.

Some like the words in lyrics of songs, some like a certain band's style, some like a certain type of music, some like music over lyrics... There are more.

Usually my favourite music I listen to for more than one reason. That's what makes it so great.

I usually listen to whatever music makes me happy. It's amazing how music can do that.
