Try this one on for size:
I saw that before, and I wasn't trying to copy it.
Oh I know. Probably should have said "Reminds me of this one I made a while back".

I agree. There's a kind of cruel mental torture game that I've seen the posters on Autism Speaks board do. They deliberately mis-state what a person posts as if they don't understand.
Since ASD people want accuracy they frequently can't ignore such a misrepresentation of their words. It serves to tie up one's time trying to fix what was never broken to begin with.
They also will do things sort of like if an ASD person writes, "I hate bad people." They say something like, "well obviously that's because you are one of those bad people."
It doesn't follow at all, but it's a way of using your own words against you.
The best thing to do is flag it to the moderators as "baiting" and not respond.
I heard that John Best has done a new blog entry about me and that he says he hasn't filed papers in order to sue vaccine manufacturers. He says I'm lying. But in fact it's John Best Jr who is lying.

It's not like this is news. It's not like it's not part of public record (see above.)

I have an idea for a cartoon...
First frame, angry mob. Caption, "2008 America."
The mob hold up banners and loudly cry "Cure Autism Now! Cure Autism Now!"
Second frame, almost the same as the first. Caption, "1938 Germany."
The mob hold up banners and loudly cry, "Cure Judaism Now! Cure Judaism Now!"
What? It's a cartoon!

Then the caption should read "Autism Speaks: It's time to Goosestep!"

I am the top poster from autism speaks. I have been banned for a week, because I do not support the idea of some unethical cure. I am the victim of extreme bias by the FA's of AS. When you first came to AS beau you said good things but allowed yourself to be taken in by the insincere parents of Autism Speaks. You will realize this afer you have been there for a while. They just want you to be there poster boy who supports a cure.
Here my recommendation for AS motto.
Autism Speaks for parents who can not, or will not accept their child's diagnosis!

Thanks for your concern, but I know what I'm doing. I'm not being taken in by anyone. There are just some there who actually are willing to listen to me and other spectrum adults. There are some idiots there, like dgdavis64 and sammy, but they're the minority of the members.

There are about 4 or 5 parents on there who are quite devious. Grandma C isn't devious but she doesn't seem to be able to understand the idea that disability is a reality and no matter if her grandson was "supposed" to be normal in her mind or not he is not normal (neither is he that disabled from the sound of it). She doesn't seem to have the ability to grasp the deeper ethical issues. But she's nice enough, over all.
One in particular is a passive-aggressive little beast. She can be really (fake) nice for a while then she'll go for the throat. She accused amber, Darwin's wife (who is very mild mannered and non-confrontational), of some hideous thing, of baiting or something. She hounded Darwin off the board, apparently. I wasn't following what she was doing but someone else on the board described it to me. She tried to slam Matt (on that board) for saying something very mild about the GFCF diet from his own experience (that his kid did better on milk) and she accused him of mocking parents who had nearly saved their children from some nightmarish existence or whatever with the GFCF diet.
Turns out she gives her kid real ice cream, she posted it to the AS board and to another board. He's not "casein free" by a long shot. She's a flaming hypocrite, in my opinion.
There are a handful of truly twisted parents on that board, but of course they feel very justified in baiting and flaming the autistic adults there and in trying to paint us as not-autistic as "working for big pharma" or cold hearted monsters who want to take away their parental rights, or worse. They will play you along. I don't mean they will succeed in getting you to change your mind about anything, but they'll try to get you to say something negative about autistic adult advocates or something positive about gross medical experimentation on autistic kids and if you don't play along, they'll put you on the enemies list and start targeting you for abuse.
Which is not to say that you shouldn't discuss things with them pleasantly. You can model good behavior for them, but in the case of a few of them, they have the daggers hidden behind their backs and they are ready to whip them out and use them on you if they think it will make their point. If I were you, I'd be wary of: sammie, Lisa782, ihatethefda, dgdavis64, Andie, chutes, hannah, autism12, momnos (who is not the blogger MOM-NOS from the autism-hub), and pegasus (doesn't usually really engage in discussions). ellen-cicioni is mostly reasonable about some things, but she hates me. I don't know if I've left any real problem children off the list.
I expect JB Handley will pop back in there with a new ID any time. So be wary of anyone new who says that their kid was damaged by vaccines.

Notice how nervous the question or "woo or not woo" makes them. They are working overtime to avoid answering the question, Is this a real therapy or is it a bogus product made by rip-off artists? The question cuts a little too close to the bone for the biomed parents. They don't want to call it woo because some of their friends might be using it, or they might actually believe it could work. They don't want to say it's not snake-oil because it's so obviously out there and likely to be the work of a con-artist. So all they can do is change the subject and keep changing it and become more and more desperate and hysterical seeming in their effort to avoid the original question. It's pretty funny to watch.

Of those you listed there, half have been quite civil with me, even in complete disagreement.
It may seem to you that I'm taking a risk by being nice, but really. Don't worry about me. Every risk I've ever taken has paid off in a big way. I'm not about to let that streak end.

Thanks Beau.
My ears were burning.
Ya know, when I read words like "You can model good behavior for them, but in the case of a few of them, they have the daggers hidden behind their backs and they are ready to whip them out and use them.." I just really have to wonder. ('') The good behavior modeler favors words like "idiot, moron, stupid" and the like. Whatever.
But on to pleasanter subjects, I'm really happy to have found this site because I think I could learn a lot here. ('') Who knows? Maybe I can even get my son to check it out, if he can get past the name "Wrong Planet"! ! (Some people are less accepting of their diagnoses than others!)
Wow! Great emoticon selection! j(':pig:')(':bom:')(':ninja:')

I dunno, I guess I don't belong here...an NT working in the IT field...I have a lot of those biomed leanings folks, but the one thing I understand is that my daughters will need to have a future. I'm not sure Autism Speaks understands that yet...but they will understand... wth all your help....

I guess I don't think of it as "risk" so much as you might end up feeling bad if/when they turn on you. That's a small "risk". I just feel like you might not know their histories or how they usually act. Like I said, if you model good behavior for them (as you no doubt will), they could actually learn something.

I hope you don't leave because of me. I just got here, basically. I think you'll find the locals much less confrontational than I am. At least I think that's the case.
Oh, I laughed at your "offensive" joke on the AS board. It was funny, in a nice way, I mean. I just didn't want to get in the middle of the rest of the junk there, so I didn't post a response to it.
