Sorry if that sounds harsh but I can't think of a better way of saying it.

Well....with all due respect.....I can't abide in any physical violence simply for the sake of revenge. Certainly not for what he's done....as reprehensible as it is. I hate to sound like i'm lecturing you here, but physical violence really never solves anything in most cases (and I doubt this would be one of the cases where it would) and it may very well result in legal and/or civil (not to mention any acts of counter-revenge ASS-P/Walter Lilly, his friends...if he has any... and/or his family... may seek against YOU) ramifications i'm sure you could do without.

In any case....in what I consider to be my own good conscience and my sense of what is logical and what is not....I can't honestly say i'm a big believer in free will anyway. If i'm a fool and/or cretin for my belief that humans do not possess a quality which can genuinely be defined as free will, then so was my fellow determinist.... Albert Einstein. Anyway...I don't care to enter into any debates over free will vs. determinism here and now.


My point being....I do not believe ASS-P/Walter Lilly could really control what he did though from my EMOTIONAL/IRRATIONAL reactions to his apparent offenses, it may appear as though I do. Rather.... I believe (though I am NOT claiming to be CERTAIN here. The only thing i'm certain of is that I know NOTHING for certain ) he did what he did because his own genetic/epigenetic/neurobiological and/or life experiences DETERMINED his behavior. Thus....I really have trouble believing anyone truly "deserves/does not deserve" anything (good or bad) and this makes revenge quite an irrational response to any given insult IMO.

Nonetheless....my deterministic worldviews DO NOT affect my feelings about DETERRENCE AND PUNISHMENTS. Unlike the animals....I see no reason why we humans must live in a world in which every other human is a wolf to their neighbor. Therefore....since fear is likely the greatest human motivator of all, I do believe people should face negative consequences for their anti-social actions much in the same manner as we would apply Skinner-esque punishments to the family dog for crapping on the rug. I just don't feel physical violence (or even threats of such) are necessary in most cases. A long isolation from everything and everyone an offending individual values ought to suffice as punishment/deterrence for future anti-social actions in the case of many people. There are some who never "learn" and if their actions are serious enough, (like the actions of serial killers or sexual predators) I might condone execution in some, if not all, cases.

In short.....I believe ASS-P/Walter Lilly should be given a long prison sentence (say at least five years or so) for his actions. While he is likely a sociopath, (that is....an individual "suffering" from anti-social personality disorder) and such people usually can never be "cured"...a life experience like a long prison sentence may knock the "fear of god" into him and prevent him from engaging in any serious anti-social ACTIONS in the future.

A word to wise if you're actually seriously considering any physical violence against him. In the long run, you will probably suffer more than him for such actions and i'd just let the proper authorities deal with him if I were you.

This whole thread actually has a surreal quality about it IMO. Truth really is stranger..... and often more absurd/horrific.....than fiction. I feel like i'm on an acid trip or something and i've never even taken the stuff
