I’m a very process orientated person. It may not look that way because I think you have to have a goal in order for the process to happen. Whether the process actually leads to that goal is not as important (to me) as the process itself.

And that is precisely what renders you, quite literally, irrelevant, MrMark. Because process is internal, while relevance is to external need.

uhm....I have really enjoyed this thread....amazing how it took off.....

One thing I have not seen discussed is the target audience. Who is your proposed customer to purchase this calendar? Is it something you plan to sell to the AS community or the NT community? Both? If it is both, make sure the appeal is there for both.

Sorry to interrupt.

and, yes, posing in lingerie for pay (actually mostly for the fun of it, but I certainly wasn't going to pose for free. My time is valuable.) I didn't consider any of those disempowering, certainly not to me.

Again.. I have no problem if a woman is doing it to empower herself.. though I've met a few in the industry [models, strippers, prostitutes etc.] who have ended up doing it because they were denograted [abused] at some point or lack of education has left them with no choice. I am conflicted with these issues because I like to express my sexuality and had a friend ask me to pole dance with her [sister act?].. I decided [after about two days] I wouldn't be comfortable with it at which point she told me I was being a prude.. which I viewed as manipulation/coersion so was sure I'd made the right choice. I got to try on her costumes though. :) Of course there are women around that have entered sex based industries who haven't been abused and do it from their own free will.. but at this point in time there are far too many that have been so IMO we still need to be responsible with the message we send out to kids. The sex industry doesn't need to be denogotive and some of it isn't.. but it takes time for things to change.
For example.. I really detest the phone sex adds. It would have most teenage boys convinced that all remotely attractive women sit at home panting for phone calls to masturbate to. Of course when they're older common sense would develop and they'd realise thats not how it is.. but subconcious ideals remain. Again, I'm not being a prude.. I just don't think these adds should be on free to air [or in the middle of startrek!!].
Quote:
Yes - there is widespread exploitation and oppression of women. Lets fight it. But lets fight for women being able to have *more* choices, not fewer ones.

I agree with this.. perhaps that is why intelligence and sexiness at the same time is discouraged so that women and young girls can be pushed into more 'appropriate' roles. Even women perpetuate this bs.

I really like her version of a teaparty. ;)

AA-
So I’m confused. Is it my apparently goal-oriented nature that makes me irrelevant?

(BTW, never took a Management Training course in my life, though I did participate in a 3 hour seminar in Library Management once, at least that’s what the paperwork says.) Or is it my apparently non-goal-oriented nature that makes me irrelevant?

Or is it, as some Jungian would conclude, that you feel irrelevant and project irrelevancy onto others?

Your previous self description was as process oriented. Goals remain unclear.

Goals.
Okay, I’ll try to make this clear, as it is so hard to know the mind of another, especially for some of us.
My goal is to have fun, to enjoy myself, and to do what I can to minimize my suffering and the suffering of others. Along the way, others will attribute all kinds of noble and nefarious motivations to me, all reflections of themselves. All I can do is be the best possible version of me that I can figure out how to be.

mr. mark, is this not just a way to brush aside any genuine criticism of your motivations, by claiming its all mere projection on the part of the critic?

Genuine criticism of my genuine motivations is fine. For example,

peebo wrote:

is not my genuine motivation. This has been an extremely common experience in my life. I always ending up feeling like, “Why would you think that?” What strikes me here at WP is not my lack of social skills, but my extreme naiveté. I continue to be surprised by people’s reactions to me. I would think that here at WP, people wouldn’t find it so hard to believe that I could possibly be so naïve. How ironic! There have been some understanding NTs like my boss who will from time to time take me aside to tell me something I need to know. Sometimes, I still don’t understand, but I just take her word for it.

I find it hard to believe myself! My god! I’m closin’ in on 50 and I still utterly fail to correctly to correctly anticipate other people’s reactions to me!

(And could it possibly be that they think they're right about everything they think, and they think I think the same way? NTs say, "Uh, I never really thought it that much." My therapist says "Is it possible you're over-thinking this?" and I say, "Are you kidding? I over-think everything!)
