Are most people with Asperger's Atheists?
Faith is not something that makes sense to scientist or to those who don't have faith in God like me. Its not a head thing its a heart, soul and spirit thing. I know God in my knower which doesn't make sense to alot of people. Faith in things is normal as we have faith in that if we press on a brake our car will slow down and then stop if we continue to do this action.
So why do we not want to have faith in God its because we want to qualify him. We want proof he exists and what proof are we willing to except. Science became God in the 1950's as we started to make discoveries like DNA and we kind of worship them. Still we listen to the people in the white coat. We rage against anything we can't understand or prove. We want answer and we want them now. We want to know why there is suffering and we want to blame someone ie. people or perhaps God. We want to sue people for doing thing wrong to us. I am being pursue by insurance companies who think I can claim for an accident that I was 'hurt' in less than three years ago. I am appalled that they think this ok to take compensation for something that didn't happen.
Sorry go off track I believe we all have a GOD shape whole which we will fill with things like knowledge etc. My God shape whole use to be like this. I knew that God exsisted but I didn't want to believe that Jesus died for my sins. That is the thing I have done and do wrong everyday. This I still do but I am and are continuing to be saved. I became a christian at 18 years ago. I have had my doubts, my fears, my rebellion, my shouting at God when I was angry, people let me down, misunderstand me BUT I know that God can take all of this because he made me and he Love me no matter what and he died for all my sins. Every thing I did, doing today and will do til I die. Am I angry at God for making me this way do I shout and stamp my foot at heaven I can do as I am only human and he knows I will and could do this.
God is my all my 24/7 God who will never leave me or walk away from me. He loves me unconditionally and he knows what I doing now what I was doing yesterday before the beginning of time.
What is that that is FAITH Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. That's my God
That is a big fat NO!
Having Asperger's does not make people lean toward any particular denomination. Possibly because we tend to have a very literal and fact based thinking brain, some of us will lean in the so called science direction. But there are all kinds of Aspies out there. Don't forget there are a lot of Aspies that don't know they have it or are in denial about it and they still go to church or where ever they go, on a regular basis. My father is one of those. He's a conservative Christian and he is higher on the spectrum that I am.
I used to call myself an atheist because I was so much into science when I was a young student & thought anyone who didn't believe the obvious physical evidence that was Darwin, was just an uneducated, red neck. BUT, then I saw & learned about the physical evidence proving modern humans were up and running with the dinosaurs 3 to 4 million years ago. That went in the opposite direction of what the Academia was teaching then about Darwin. Now, I still know that Darwin was right about a lot of things, its obvious. But he was not right about everything.
Then I started learning about Tesla and Emanuel Swedenborg & their teachings on the after life. I realized Atheists are just as uneducated.
I don't think Aspies are any different when it comes to religion. It's a mix of education and experience that helps one decide on their beliefs.
Just my 2 cents...for what it's worth. : )
I agree every one has a choice mine is back by my faith and my concentrate thinking of black and white.
Darwin had a contemporary Wallace who has been forgotten about. Darwin was a christian but lost his faith when his daughter died and he blamed God. My husband has not differculty believe in evolution but I don't t think what I believe about the survival of the fittest. We agree to disagree.
My faith is my rock in an uncertain, challenging, frightening, and painful world but I see God in the world in his creation his amazing love, forgiveness and certainly of ever lasting life.
God bless and good night from England.
Your right Ha I believe my husband who has a first class honours degree from and a PHD from Cambridge says that people who are very clever can have problems believing as there intelligence is used to analyse things. He became a christian when after his friend from childhood died in a climbing accident and he went to his funeral. There was sadn me sadness but a celebration of this young man' life even if it was short. This got him thinking and wondering about God. He had been to church has a child but had stopped going yea years before that. He took a Gideon bible away with him. Cycling around the alps for a month between his degree and a PhD. That's when he found God.
Belief in God isn't quantifiable in terms of solid facts like people want. The decision you can make is that either he Jesus was a mad man or what he said son of God. It's for people to decide we are given free will God let's us make our own decisions.
