I'm 13 and have a question about Autism
I pretty much feel the same way. That's why I don't usually use the NT term and don't know or really care if I'm supposed to be INXYZ. Some people here do a lot of NT vs AS (I don't even know if AS means Asperger Syndrome or Autistic Spectrum), like NT's do this and that, act a certain way. But I know from having been around a lot more autistic people than most, that in a lot of those cases it's just people being people and human nature applies to everyone. One of the reasons why for the most part I don't keep track of who on wrong planet has autism or not.
But I agree with what skibum said too. My level of autism and other stuff I have, determines what kind of help I get etc.
Ezra, I think one of the reasons that you don't feel the differences between NTs and Autistics as much as some of us tend to is because you are predominantly nonverbal. You also have a very significant support system which you will always have because of the particulars of your situation.
When you have to rely on verbal communication to be understood, and when you have to struggle and constantly advocate for yourself to have your basic survival needs met, you are always feeling the conflict and difficulties of people who speak and understand the language differently than you do. I know that you can have tremendous difficulties making yourself understood as well. But because you have such an incredible support system to verbally advocate for you, you will not be left to die if you cannot advocate for yourself. People who have to advocate for themselves and find that they are constantly being mistreated because the verbal communication is so different between the two groups, will tend to have more frustrations which come across as an NT vs Autistic mentality.
I can speak for myself. I take each person as he or she is and some of the people that I am closest to are NTS. But when it comes to fighting for services and help and trying to get people to understand what my needs are or when it comes to trying to communicate effectively at work with people like my boss who have no idea how Autistics communicate, I am always getting into trouble because I cannot process language or social structure like an NT does. I have lost many jobs because of this and I have been denied services that I need over and over because of this.
Autistics and NTs are very different in how we process social structure and language. That is part of the diagnosis. If people do not understand how different we are in these areas, they will expect us to process like they do. And when we cannot, we get punished for that. So if we are trying to keep jobs and get services to stay alive but we keep losing them because of how we are misunderstood or how we misunderstand others, we really feel the us vs them differences. We are not trying to be discriminatory and we are not trying to cause a divide, but these differences are very real and they can really affect someone's ability to survive or not survive.

Ok thanks, I just kind of think people are either nice or not nice the rest doesn't matter I came to WP to learn about my brother and I never thought about if the people had Autism or not Mom just said it was the best place to learn
Here is a link with an explanation of what they mean.
At the bottom of the page there is a link to take the test if you want to take it.

They are not "communication styles" per se.
They are personality types. Types gleened from a person taking Meyers Brigg Personality test. Though personality types have differing communication styles.
Thank you guess it is over my pay scale as my dad would say LOL

The reason we use labels is not to discriminate. We use them in order to identify what kind of help and resources we might need in order to make it easier to live our lives. For instance, I am just Skibum. I am a person like everyone else. But because I am Autistic there are certain kinds of services that I need in order to get the help I need so that I can live my life independently and be able to take care of all of my responsibilities. Without being given that label, I cannot get the services that I need. We also use the labels so that we can understand our specific needs better. If I say I am Autistic, then people who are Autistic like people here on Wrong Planet, or people who are very knowledgeable about Autism, will automatically have an idea of what some of my needs might be and it will save time and effort explaining why I need certain services or resources.
Even in your case, the fact that you are Native American automatically qualifies you for things like certain college scholarships and other services which might be very helpful to you. It also protects you against certain types of discriminatory acts. So yes, even though we should all treat each other like we are all Okla, sometimes the labels are important so that we can get help and supports that we need. We also talk a lot about the labels here at WP to help us understand and support each other better. There is nothing wrong with using labels as long as we are using them for good, like for trying to understand each other and for helping each other. It is wrong to use them for bad like discriminating against and hurting people.
I'm a mutt dad was 1/2 Choctaw 1/2 Cherokee he was raised more around the Choctaw mom is almost half Comanche and then some Finland and Sweden as dad would say I'm a card carrying Indian but we never use any of the stuff he said earn what you get nobody owes you anything and what happen to our people happen to them it was wrong but the people here now did not do it to us so we aren't owed anything by anybody If we want it work for it

I've always had problems with high functioning autistics. Those like me are looked down upon by many of them. I've read people here and on aspie central saying how much they disliked being around those with significant or severe autism. I've been shunned, teased, bullied and even physically assaulted by high functioning autistics because of the way I am. In my opinion that's just human nature at work.

I'm just pointing out that people are people when it comes human nature and the nastier aspects of human nature isn't just relegated to NTs. My overall experience has been okay. But it's had its moments.
