Wow, that food looks good. Just tell me what´s gluten free, and I´ll eat it!

I am also looking very forward to this meeting/holiday.

Both of the above! :D ( and casein-free too unless the macaroons have a cream filling )

And macaroons aren't always such violent colours. It depends on where you get them.

Thinking about day trips we could do, if we wanted.

I will only be arriving on the Friday, mid-late morning, so if other people wanted to go off for the day I hope it won't be Friday, :(, ( but I could handle it, ... so long as you told me beforehand ! !! ).

I looked up travel to Arles. There are buses but no trains on the Sunday. On the Saturday there is a train at 9.49 which takes 17 minutes, and costs only 6.40 €, ( and a train coming back late, 21.44 ). there's several buses but they take a lot longer, 55 + minutes.

Arles:

And, like Fred84 said, there are a couple of other beautiful places close by too. :D

I´ve been to Arles, I think I would most like to go to Isle sur Sorgue (sp.?) and Fontagne. They sound interesting. I could go back to Arles too, if people wanted. We could do the day trips on the weekend, and use Friday to hang out in Avignon; then we should have no problem all meeting up.

I know, I read your previous post.

Isle sur Sorgue is very small; there isn't half, or even a tenth, as much to do or look at as in Arles. It is fairly pretty, but the antique market is an important part of the package, ( if you are into antiques ); it bulks out the experience a bit.

I have been to both places and Arles is far more interesting, but I don't mind going to Isle sur Sorgue on the Sunday when the market is on, if only because there will be more people to watch then! :D

I don't know Fontagne though.

That sounds good. :) What do other people think?

There's the flea market in Avignon on the Sunday too. :D

:?: Wondering who else can afford £350-£400 for a four nights/days holiday in the S. of France with a small group of WP'ers? :D

I say £350-£400 because four nights at the hotel totals 176€, ( but there is also camping , cheaper ), and flights cost between £76 and £120 ( depending on whether go by Ryanair [ from Luton to Nimes ] or Flybe [ from Southampton to Avignon direct ] ), and will need 20-30€ for other transport in France, plus around/at least £75 for food/meals/drinks over the four days, which comes to around £350.

So far there are 8/9 of us; ManErg, me, Morgana, KenG, Seashell, ( if her one exam does not fall on the wrong date ), Raggle-Taggle-Gypsy, Darth Maxeius, EnglishLulu, ( probably/possibly ), maybe Lotusblossom, ( and perhaps GeomAsp from Spain ).

Anyone else who is interested in coming is very welcome. :D Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June, in Avignon, ( some people are coming earlier, on the Wednesday and Thursday ).

I've booked a flight to Marseille, although I still don't know whether I will be able to make it. But the flight was only GBP5, and less than GBP10 with the credit card booking fee, so if I can't make it, I've only lost 10 pounds, whereas if I wait until I know for certain, a flight will likely cost more than GBP100, so I will have 'lost' around a hundred pounds.

I haven't booked a return flight yet, partly because my plans aren't yet confirmed in any event, and partly because I thought I would go to Montpellier after meeting you guys, to see some friends (I'm flying into Marseille and not Montpellier), and then it occurred to me that instead of flying back home from Montpellier, I could catch a train down to Barcelona (because I've never visited before, and it's somewhere I've always wanted to go, to see the Gaudi architecture)... and then I could catch a flight home from there for about 18 euros... hmmm... :? And then I realised that I could maybe fly from Barcelona to Bremen in Germany to see my daughter in Bad Fallingbostel... I could be zig-zagging across Europe depending on where the cheapest flights will take me... Decisions... decisions...

One of my major problems is that I'm not very good at making decisions when confronted with a variety of options, my brain seems to get overwhelmed and blow a fuse and stop functioning.

I really hope you can. Especially after reading the rest of your post, which is deliriously funny, and I totally understand it at the same time! :D

Oh yes, I know just what you mean! I´m the same way. Or if I have to make a lot of decisions in a certain time period- (like when directing a show)- it just comes to the point where I feel like I can´t make any anymore.

I hope to meet you. :)

Ditto! :D Perhaps you could find a cheap flight and make it for the weekend at the end of May? ( and stay longer in France to make it worth the journey/price/time ). It would be good to meet you.

OMG that would be wonderful!! Maybe I can scrape up the money. Maybe I can sell some things. I have a pile of junk here because I'm a lab rat. J'aime la France. I haven't been back to Europe since I've been 16.

You know, I have a timeshare in Spain, on the gold coast (Mediterranean). It's for Nov-April, one week and it sleeps 6 people. It's a 5-star Marriott 2-room suite timeshare on the beach that I inherited from my mother last year. I've never been there. I didn't go last year due to lack of interest and I didn't want to spend the money to fly there. I also didn't want to go alone.

Maybe next year that would be a good get-together? People would only need to arrange transportation. People could bring their own food if they didn't want to eat out because it's supposed to have a kitchen in the suite.

It is a nice idea, but it only sleeps 6 people and we want to have at least 60 people at the 2010 European WP meet-up...

Didn't know it was that BIG. Sorry.
