Look at the kneeling girls on the life side of the picture and look at the third one, that's me.
You're a balletomane! That's so cool! I don't dance anymore (never really loved to dance), but I adore ballet and want to be a ballet historian. Both of my parents were professional dancers.
My mum was in performance with Nureyev when she was little. But she did somehting even cooler than that. She dated Baryshnikov when she was 17 (he was 26)!
/me bounces in excitement ! !!
don't get me started! i took ballet lessons when i was very young, but i was too short to take it any further (this was nearly 40 years ago, remember, and i was extremely tiny until i was 13).
professional dancers! dating baryshnikov! i am practically dribbling with envy.
sylvie guillem is my favourite. saw her in a forsythe triple bill, years back, in my favourite ballet ("in the middle, somewhat elevated"), and nearly exploded. it was astonishing. (it was also the world premiere of "tombeaux", which was designed by jasper conran, and absolutely gorgeous). as you can tell, i like a lot of the contemporary stuff - ever heard of the lunatic louise lecavalier who used to dance with La La La Human Steps?
incidentally - the picture of you at the barre - it's difficult to see who's shortest, cos of the perspective. care to tell me how many from the left you are?
still bouncing...
