Yipee!
If you do the whole journey you are contemplating, it will look like this:
UK->Avignon (via Marseille)->Montpellier->Barcelona->Bad Fallingbostel (via Bremen)->UK
It is a farely simple journey. I have done far more complicated journeys in the past.

ephemerella: I hope you can come, that would be great!

I think your idea about Spain also sounds cool. We should keep that in mind. I´m always interested in holidays :) It´s greatly complicated for me at the moment, due to food allergies, so I don´t travel as much as I´d like to. But if I can find more possibilities that suit me...yeah, I´m all for it!

OK! Maybe a holiday, then. It has a kitchen, too.

Just reposting this, ( minus the flight info ), for anyone newly interested, or who didn't know what stage the planning had got to:

The WP meet-up in central S. France, here are the details:

The meet-up is in Avignon the weekend from Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June, but people are obviously free to come earlier or stay later, or both! ( One person will definitely be there from Wednesday, and two others from Thursday )

We will be staying at the Etap Hotel in the centre of Avignon, ( but there are also three campsites in Avignon for people on smaller budgets/who prefer a tent ). All rooms are en-suite, modern, basic but clean, and cost 44€ per room/night for one person, ( 53€ per room/night for two people sharing a room ). The hotel website is at:

http://www.etaphotel.com/

Click on the small UK/USA flag in the top right hand corner of the page and you will get the english version. There is a booking window in the top middle of the page. Tap "avignon centre" into the little window. Reservations are by credit card. If you haven't got one then write directly to the hotel at the address on the hotel info page.

Details of some cheap flights from the UK are on page 9.

There are probably 7 - 8 people coming, another 10 thinking about it, ( according to the poll  ), and anyone else interested is very welcome. :D I am looking forward to it immensely.

:sunny:

If you live in North America, you are invited to Autreat, in Pennsylvania, on June 29 - July 3:

(You are, of course, invited to Autreat even if you don't live in North America...)

To ensure you have a room at the Etap, I recommend you book it now. You can later cancel your reservation, if needed, and you will not be charged at all if you cancel it.

Thanks for reminding me, Ken! I was being so ditsy about the flights, checking out about four different budget airlines flying around Europe, looking at route maps, trying to make up my mind where to go and how to get home, that I completely forgot!

It's done now. :)

To the people on this thread: I just wanted to let you know that I´m going to be taking a break from Wrong Planet. I´ve written too many long posts lately, that then just get lost because the website is swamped and temporarily down due to too many people. This is just too time consuming for me, not to mention frustrating!! ! I get too obsessed with things, and I´ve let other things slide due to my obsession with Wrong Planet. Maybe it´s a sign from God that I need to take a break and focus on other things right now.
In any case, the frustration is just too much for me to bear. I´ve wasted too much time on writing posts that never see the light of day. Obviously, the website is too swamped- someone has to go, and I guess it´s going to be me, for now.

I just wanted to let you know, because if there is something you want to say that´s important in regards to this trip, just feel free to PM me...I´m still around, I´m just taking a break. I will be coming back at some point. I hope when that happens, Wrong Planet will have found a way to accommodate all the people better.

:( I know how you feel. This has sometimes happened to me and it is AWFUL, :x especially as it always seems to happen when I have just spent a particularly long time crafting/composing a post on something really important to me.

I/we will pm you about anything new/crucial re meet times/places etc. I look forward to seeing you very much. Best wishes. :)

I'm not in Europe and am not planning to attend, but I voted Avignon because it used to be the seat of the bishop of Rome.

It just occurred to me that I haven't actually lost any posts in quite a while though, even when the site is swamped, because what I do now is preview before submitting/sending, ( however long it takes ), so that if I get the "down" page when I submit my post I can click "page back" to get my posting page back up, and try again.

This is terrible, Morgana. Please don't leave. I do what ouinon does and hit "back".

I'll post a new thread about the website and how to maybe help improve performance...

This is exactly what I did, and it still didn´t work- for some reason, I couldn´t go back one page. So I waited and waited, nothing happened. This happened on several occasions lately, that was why I was so irritated about it! I had a huge meltdown, and was banging things around in my apartment...my poor neighbors. I just hate wasting time, when I feel like I have so little of it.

Well, I guess I´ll hang around subliminally for awhile. Just get involved in 1 or 2 posts, and write short posts for a time, so I don´t feel like I took up too much time if it doesn´t make it through.

 :( I wonder what happened . That is grievous. When it still used to do it to me I melted down on at least two occasions.
