I wonder if Cho had some biological problem - e.g. a frontal lobe tumor like the guy in Texas.

More to the point, I am wondering if we will ever find out, since he did put a hollow point bullet in his brain.

If they keep his DNA, in a 10 to 20 years they could do a DNA test and we will know what he had.

Says in the video "she feared he might be autistic..." (that's hardly a diagnosis) ..."because he didn't talk..." (that, alone, is hardly criteria to make a diagnosis).

Well, that's sort of a relief. His family was merely speculating because the kid was weird. No definitive diagnosis.

Yeah she never said he was diagnosised autistic just that she thought he was.

I keep hearing that he rarely talked, but I know I'm bad for over-talking once I get started.

...

That's my two cents worth anyways.

If he had been one of the "cool" guys, the girls would not have accused him of stalking or complained about him taking pictures of them.

Agreed. If you're unpopular, you can have any negative label thrown at you for no reason.

WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF HE WAS AUTISTIC?! Being an Autie or Aspie DOESN'T make you dangerous! Instead of obsessing on this issue, we (the people who should know better!) must refute this absurd notion!

I think you are buying into the notion that being an Autie or Aspie means you have some kind of mental illness. IT DOESN'T; it only means that you are wired differently neurologically from the general population. Can this lead to problems? Sure, just like being different in any way can cause problems; having a limp, being fat, being the only member of a minority at your school. It can lead other people to mistreat you and to you feeling bad about yourself. It also presents some obstacles, such as not being able to handle too much noise and confusion, or being frustrated at social difficulties. But it is a physical disorder, not a mental illness!

If he was an Aspie/Autie, it was only ONE quality in him. He was also male. (And BTW, in case you didn't notice, MOST mass murderers are male, but that doesn't make most males mass murderers.) He was Asian. He had a great aunt who has a big mouth (IMHO). He may have had lactose-intolerance. He was close to 6 ft. tall. He wore a tan vest. He may have eaten Cheetos the prior week, etc., etc., etc. NONE OF THESE THINGS IS INDICATIVE OF A MURDEROUS PERSONALITY! Not even if he were Aspie/Autie.

PLEASE, my son has mild autism, and I'm probably an Aspie. Don't feed into this ridiculous notion!

I think stalking and taking pictures without asking first certainly would have been problematic regardless of the coolness of the person...I'm sure some girls would not like it...if not all...

Oh, but whitequeen, there are several types of disturbing behavior. Some people will take more lives than this fellow has over the course of a life of crime. We're just trying to determine whether HFA or AS could have played a role in this particular TYPE of dysfunctional behavior. Some people are going to be antisocial, some people are going to be paranoid schizophrenic, and others will enter politics. We're not buying into the notion that autism makes someone dangerous. What we're buying into is the notion that an autist may be susceptible to certain behavioral patterns which could lead to a certain TYPE of disturbing behavior. This is valuable because, if we could figure out how to recognize the signs in ourselves and seek help when needed, we could develop into a community that is known for having one of the lowest rates of violence in all society simply from knowing how to head off the behaviors that could lead to it.

Paranoid schizophrenia, and that's my final armchair diagnosis. If you don't like it, eat me.

It matters because all autistic can be stereotyped as dangerous if you have a number of
these high profile mass killing with autism loosely related to it. So if he is proved to not
have autism without a doubt it will save the autism community from having to deal with
the negative effects. Sure from a logic stand point aspies/autie are not a danger but
when does logic have anything to do with discrimination? If it turns out he was on the
spectrum you can be sure kids who are on the spectrum now will be ridiculed by NT
bullies with phrases like "Oh don't go Cho on us..."

Uh oh... I ate some Cheetos last week. I hope I don't go crazy.

I think that the accusations of stalking were made because "he was such a dweeb."

It wouldnt be hard to get the tag of a stalker. Anyone who was ever interested in another person trys to at least be in the same place as them more often in the hopes that they might get noticed. Only they wasnt interested in him so this attention was unwanted and they call him a stalker. But if it was someone popular then the reaction would be opposite welcoming the attention wether interested or not.

Have any of you ever tried working up the courage to talk to someone and approached them but when they look at you approaching you have no idea what to do so you try act normal by walking past them or turning around. They do notice this and if you do it too many times you will be called a stalker.
