~ If you don't understand the question being asked of this topic.
~ If you are crazy in your own sickadellic way (more than the person standing next to you, unless a diagnosed aspie)

I was at the grocery store with my son when an adult I didn't know said hi to him and waved. He smiled back so I figued he knew her. Turns out she is the school librarian.

He's never run into a class mate. At least as far as I know.

:P

You may be an Aspie if you are watching The Big Bang theory, and you can't understand why Penny isn't attracted to Sheldon.

I wanted to wait until I was diagnosed to avoid misleading this thread (or getting caught being wrong), but my assessment appointment got delayed, and 2 months is a long period of time, so here it goes

You may be an Aspie if ...

(1 to 15 of 71 and counting)

1. you feel compelled to read the label on you skis, yet loose sight of the fact you are currently skiing ... into a fence

2. You don't understand why the doctor does not believe your story of how you got a black eye and dislocated your jaw (references above)

3. you have attempted to calculate where to go for dinner (or at least get take-out)

4. you disassembled the Nintendo at 5, to try and find the people that live inside, and failed understand why it never worked again (they must have escaped when i was not looking)

5. you keep on delivering graphs, charts and diagrams to colleagues at work without any explanation or context. when confronted you respond "What? the graph was my explanation"

6. people accuse you of being downbeat and not smiling enough, however you cannot talk about excessively large amounts of energy, force, current, voltage, precision ... or anything that can create these things without grinning like and idiot (kilo amp, femtosecond, Tesla coil :D )

7. you got a 3" laceration to your scalp, while standing up and failed to notice, yet I could have sworn I was wearing blue pants not red.

8. you get frustrated when driving behind anyone who does not keep their speed to a multiple of 5

9. you enjoy standing in the geometric centre of a room, and find it frustrating being rooms where this point is ambiguous

10. your most hated 5 word phrase is "Don't worry it's close enough" (yes, but it's not correct)

11. Your grade 9 science project was a Tesla Coil because you had already built it anyway, and your attempt at a rail gun would not stop liquefying its projectiles.

12. you decide whether to push or pull on a door based on the fire code legislation of your municipality, not the label on the door

13. the most common 7 words you say are: "but it made sense at the time"

14. you describe patterns in, and accuracy of test data as beautiful, and actually mean it

15. you don't ask questions in hand written documents because question marks are too hard to draw

I have never been skiing, but #1 would happen to me... #6 They tell me that, however when I am in trouble and NOT supposed to be happy is when I can't stop smiling. I have misjudged where corners are and walked right into them. I like all of these.

Oh, and Welcome to Wrong Planet huntedman!

Thank you it is nice to be here, just a couple more ...

1. when in grade 2 the principal asks what you did to get told to finish your work alone in the hall, you respond "I asked nicely", when he demands that you return to class you wonder what you did wrong

2. if you sum all the time you spend talking to other people, you still talk to yourself more, and this does not really bother you.

3. you intentionally avoid people knowing your name and birthday, because you know you will never remember theirs and want to be on an even-ground

4. Your parents get asked at work if you are coming to the company picnic, explaining that you have been injured enough at this event in the past that they are looking into getting liability insurance, just in case

5. You have kept a piece of information secret from all but one person you know and challenged others that they "will never be able to figure it out", to study how information flows within the groups of people you know

I gotta twist on this one. (It was totally true for me too.)
You might be an aspie from Northfield, MN, if your high school librarian knew you better than your classmates, and you feel compelled to tell everybody the librarian was Sheila Wellstone. And when meeting non-Minnesotans, you are pleased to spend an hour explaining who she was and why she was historically significant independent of her husband. And then you expect them to assume you must also be important by association, and therefore they should like you and want to be your friend and buy you cupcakes.

...if "may you live in interesting times" is in no way an ancient curse, but a blessing
...If it's 5:50 AM and you haven't gone to bed yet because you're online, reading and posting again, even though you need to wake up in 4 hours for a therapy appointment. And your Ambien + Ativan night-time cocktail can't stop you!
...if you've been up all night on the discussion boards, and no matter how badly you need to sleep, you just can't get to sleep without watching an episode of Star Trek first, and then you must listen to Harry Potter audiobooks (which you own in both Stephen Fry and Jim Dale versions) in order to fall asleep. And you own every book, in hard cover and paperback. And you still get crap from your isp for downloading yet another copy to your computer. (Feel free to substitute your own childish addiction for Harry Potter.)
...if you've ever cited the Dungeons and Dragons Player's Handbook as a historical source in a high school Western Civ class
...if you're someone who's attracted to women and you think Sarah Vowell is an incredible hottie who you just wanna take home and discuss presidential assassinations with over wine & cheese and, well, somehow abruptly transition into having sex.
...if you're attracted to men, the same applies to Jon Stewart, or maybe some grindcore singer.
...if you hate all of the things normally expected of a person who wants a shot at having sex.
...if you have given up on sex altogether because it's so not worth your time and energy to play the game. Except maybe with Sarah Vowell. (She's gotta be one of us, isn't she?)

You know that in the 19th Century it was the norm to wear the same shirt each day, and put on a new paper collar in the morning and throw it out at the end of the day.

You may be a FEMALE aspie if:
...You're in you're 30's and still-role play with dolls and/or stuffed animals.
...And none of those stuffed animals were a gift from a boyfriend.
...You wouldn't wear a pair of high-heels if they paid you a million dollars to do so.
...You usually get along with men better than with other women because men generally don't let their lives revolve around clothes, shoes, make-up. And their lower-pitched voices don't make your ears bleed. :)
...You can go for weeks without wearing make-up and find it virtually impossible to understand women who think they look hideous without it.
...Most, if not all, your clothes are designed for function more than fashion and the thought of wearing skirts, pantyhose or short pants make you shudder.
...You go to a party or dance only because there's food and you consider making it through without having a meltdown a major accomplishment.
...About the only true friends you had at school were the librarian, the counsler and maybe at least one of the cafeteria ladies. :)

You might have been a 19th century aspie if you changed your paper collar weekly, but only if someone pointed out that half of it had torn off last Tuesday.
You might have been a 19th century aspie if you postpone your annual April bath until next April.
