Hi everyone,

I am new here and this is my first post. I love taking quizzes of all kinds, so this has been informative for me. Thank you for posting this, Scientist.

My results:

broad autism phenotype

Autistic/BAP

You scored above the cutoff on all three scales. Clearly, you are either autistic or on the broader autistic phenotype. You probably are not very social, and when you do interact with others, you come off as strange or rude without meaning to. You probably also like things to be familiar and predictable and don't like changes, especially unexpected ones.
Your Analysis (Vertical line = Average)

You scored 126% on aloof, higher than 91% of your peers.

You scored 109% on rigid, higher than 74% of your peers.

You scored 102% on pragmatic, higher than 73% of your peers.

You scored 8% on diagnosis, higher than 84% of your peers.

According to your self-report answers, your emotional intelligence is very poor. People who score like you do feel that they have trouble dealing with their own emotions and those of others. They struggle to overcome difficulties in their lives and they are unable to control their moods. It's hard for them to understand how best to motivate themselves and reach their goals. In addition, they find social interactions quite difficult, for several reasons. They may have trouble allowing themselves to get close with others, finding it difficult to be vulnerable enough to establish intimacy. They also report having trouble offering support to others, likely due to the fact that they do not understand where others are coming from or they lack ideas about how best to help. Perhaps by working on your problem areas, you can become more confident in dealing with your own emotions and those of others.

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 72 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

It was only this week that I accidentally stumbled upon the AQ quiz which got me started on all of this. My youngest son has been suspected of Asperger's and was getting tested in Virginia, where he had an IEP and was beginning to receive services. Unfortunately we had to move back to NY for financial reasons and they cut him off completely. He did not even speak until after 3 years of age and also had speech regression. I would not be surprised at all if he is HFA or AS, but I must say that I am shocked by these results about myself, especially the EIQ. Today at the school I teach at, I frankly asked the special ed teacher what kind of first impression she had of me, and she said one of the first things she noticed about me is that I had trouble making eye contact with he, though I remember specifically trying to make it with her because she was that rare person I knew I would connect with (that happens with maybe 2-4% of people I meet, if that).

I also have the INTP personality. Today while at school while walking alone down to lunch I had a moment to think, so it occurred to me that INTP personality and Asperger's seem similar. I had to Google it as soon as I got home and was not surprised to see a connection.

I am scared about getting a diagnosis, but at the same time, I feel it could help me. New York is also notorious for not wanting to diagnose people, most likely because they don't want to pay for any services. Any advice?

Thank you so much.

EQ=9 SQ=49 RESULT: Extreme Systemizing

the other popular test probably on this thread is the one out of the 200 score for nt and aspie traits
my result stated that i had both aspie and nt traits.

now i need to show these to my therapist (who already unofficially diagnosed me as to have AS)and i feel more compelled to join a local AS group then ever before. I did go to one group like 2 times when i still lived at home and was in relative denial/stubborn/unsure/unaware about AS and didnt like it for one reason or another. but now that i have started living on my own i realize i have to address this sooner rather than later.

(And all this time I thought emotional intelligence was one of my strengths...)

HSP

25
If you answered more than fourteen of the questions as true of yourself, you are probably highly sensitive.

Mind in the Eyes

Your score: 26
A typical score is in the range 22-30. If you scored over 30, you are very accurate at decoding a person's facial expressions around their eyes. A score under 22 indicates you find this quite difficult.

(I guessed a lot on this test, but it appears I guessed mostly correctly.)

Thank you for the tests. I came to this community as someone who'd been told to look into AS by a few close friends, and I'm trying to decide if I should seek professional help and get diagnosed. These are exactly what I need, and incline me to speak with a doctor. I didn't save all my scores, but what I do remember:

BAP
123% on aloof
103% on rigid
115% on pragmatic

EQ-SQ

EQ: 11
SQ: 119
Brain Type: Extreme Systemizing, or, as I interpret it, EXTREME Extreme Systemizing ;)

EIQ

Subscale IQ: 55
Subscale Percentile 0.3

I didn't save their summary, but needless to say, this EIQ is VERY poor, and dealing with my emotions and/or other people's is often quite overwhelming.

HSP

14
I reached their threshold on this barely, however, many of those 14 were VERY true, so I'm inclined to believe I'm HSP.

Face Memory

Out of 72 faces, I correctly identified 67, or 93%

So I guess, in simple terms, I recognize emotions and their impacts on others, I just lack empathy and would rather communicate for the sake of obtaining information and knowledge then appeasing someone's emotional needs.

My scores:

1. BAPQ:

Autistic/BAP
You scored 118 aloof, 106 rigid and 121 pragmatic

2. AQ: 42

3. EQ: Your Score 21 94 Extreme Systemizing

6. 20 (The reading eyes/emotions test)

Face Memory test: 63% [updated]

Not diagnosed but may talk with the state soon. Also thought I could read eyes pretty well but I didn't do so well.

Update: I thought I could remember faces too but it was difficult for me. It felt like I was good at reading people but I think I was fooling myself. I stink at the face/eyes recognition.

Well I found this website recently, after an "eureka" moment about my stepson (whom I am very convinced has AS), and the more I read the more I realised that I also had some Aspie traits. I have been describing myself as being NT with some AS traits ... after this test maybe I should start describing myself as AS with NT traits lol. I just did the Aspie Quiz out of curiosity, here is the result:

Your Aspie score: 128 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 96 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

Maybe it explains why I can understand (or at least I think I do) both my husband who is NT and my stepson who is AS.

I took a few:

BAPQ:
Rigid Personality
You scored above the cutoff for rigid personality, which means you probably don't really like changes, especially unexpected ones. You may have a daily routine that you seldom vary, dislike going to unfamiliar places or meeting new people, or have specific rules about how you do things which you refuse to change. However, you are not particularly aloof, and probably don't have much trouble with social communication. You are probably on the broader autistic phenotype.
You scored 88% on aloof, higher than 21% of your peers.
You scored 107% on rigid, higher than 71% of your peers.
You scored 68% on pragmatic, higher than 17% of your peers.
You scored 11% on diagnosis, higher than 97% of your peers.

AQ:
Score: 34

EQ/SQ:
EQ: 23
SQ: 95
Brain Type: Extreme Systemizing
I'm surprised by the gulf between my scores on this one. I tend to be reasonably adept at reading body language and such, and my answers on the EQ test reflected this. Likewise, my systemizing tendencies are manifested only in my 'specialist interests' and devotion to routine and order; I take little interest in species classification, meteorological patterns and various other topics that the test presented as typical 'systemizing' pursuits, and, once again, this would have been evident in my answers. Frankly, I was expecting to score as the balanced type - or a moderate systemizer, at most. Very strange.

Reading the Eyes:
Your score: 25
A typical score is in the range 22-30. If you scored over 30,
you are very accurate at decoding a person's facial expressions
around their eyes. A score under 22 indicates you find this quite difficult

Aspie Test
Your Aspie score: 115 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 112 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits
(The NT traits were mainly in the areas of stimming, communication, reading non-verbal cues, and things of the sort.)

I wasn't inclined to take the HSP or facial recognition tests, as I'm not known to suffer from many (or any, in the case of prosopagnosia) of the traits associated with these conditions.
As for the EIQ test, I scarpered as soon as I saw the heading reading '106 questions'. :P

The Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ) test (Baron-Cohen et al., 2001) Scored a 30
Eighty percent of those diagnosed with autism or a related disorder scored 32 or higher. The test is not a means for making a diagnosis, however, and many who score above 32 and even meet the diagnostic criteria for mild autism or Asperger's report no difficulty functioning in their everyday lives.

====================================================================

Respondent Average EQ Average SQ Brain Type
Males 39.0 61.2 Systemizing
Females 48.0 51.7 Empathizing
Your Score 22 Take SQ Test

What does your score mean?

Generally, the higher the score the greater your natural ability for that trait. However, the EQ test has 40 questions compared to 75 in the SQ test. As a result, although the unprocessed quotients may be used for comparing each trait ability between individuals, the absolute scores do not tell an individual if he or she has a greater tendency to empathize or systemize. A calculation taking into account the quantity of questions in each test is used to determine a person's brain type along the following continuum:

* Extreme Empathizing (Extreme E)
* Empathizing (E)
* Balanced (B)
* Systemizing (S)
* Extreme Systemizing (Extreme S)

Brain Types of Experimental Control Groups
Respondent Extreme E E Balanced S Extreme S
Males 0% 17% 31% 46% 6%
Females 7% 47% 32% 14% 0%

The important factor to consider is not your absolute score, but the difference between the two. This indicates whether you have more natural ability as an Empathizer or a Systemizer. If your scores are about the same for your EQ and SQ, then you have well balanced empathizing-systemizing capabilities.

Scoring:
If you answered more than fourteen of the questions as true of yourself, you are probably highly sensitive. But no psychological test is so accurate that an individual should base his or her life on it. We psychologists try to develop good questions, then decide on the cut off based on the average response.

If fewer questions are true of you, but extremely true, that might also justify calling you highly sensitive.

You probably also like things to be familiar and predictable and don't like changes, especially unexpected ones.

Your Analysis:
You scored 118% on aloof, higher than 75% of your peers.

You scored 115% on rigid, higher than 83% of your peers.

You scored 100% on pragmatic, higher than 69% of your peers.

You scored 6% on diagnosis, higher than 62% of your peers.

4. I can't remember what IQ I got, but I was in the 1st percentile.

5. HSP = 20
