That's awesome :D ! What sort of things do you like to draw?

I like to draw anime and cartoon characters. :)

Cool! What kinds of animals do you like? :)

I mostly like cats but I also like horses, fish, and dogs! :)

Cool! I love cats :D .

StampySquiddyFan,

I like many of the same composers. Being of both German and Italian heritage, the composers of those countries are my favorites. I lean toward the lighter Italian side for my Classical music tastes. I also like Russian composers, particularly Tchaikovsky. I love The Nutcracker Suite.

Skiddlebugz,

I am a cat lover, too. As a child, I loved horses.

I do enjoy Tchaikovsky :D .

I’ve been wondering if certain topics I like would be considered “obsessive” or not, but regardless they’re certainly clear areas of interest. Then there’s the much more negative side to my obsessive mind.

In terms of interests, I would say cats (breeds, behaviours, history and cat genetics), somewhat with dogs as well, regular genetics (especially epigenetics), all things to do with myths regarding Cupid and society’s changing perception on morality and love (this can sometimes branch into artwork if the art contains such themes and certain historical events) repeatedly listening to songs until I’m sick of them, cartoon/ TV show theories and analysis (and branching off from that, psychology and how people think).

The more negative side to this, is that I have a tendency to over-think things, and get almost stuck onto negative thought patterns. Usually these patterns turn into a physical action and/or phrase. I argue with myself a lot, and have quite a negative “inner voice” which means that I tend to struggle with self-worth (my confidence has a habit of going quite high to fairly low quite unexpectedly) and it’s a bit like this:

Stage 1) A nagging thought enters my mind, whether this is a disturbing image for a TV show or movie, or a constant doubt about something, it doesn't matter.

Stage 2) I take part in certain behaviours in order to lessen the control these thoughts have.

Stage 3) The doubt/ subject becomes stronger and makes concentrating on anything else difficult.

Stage 4) I realise that the doubt is silly and find a way to comfort myself, usually repeating a phrase to myself a couple of times (either in my mind, or out loud) and/or doing a physical action (this can range from a simple side-step when I pass a certain window, certain gestures, to repetitive checking behaviours).

Step 5) Repeat with another thought. If the thought is a thought that I’ve already considered in detail, usually I will say a phrase to myself to remind myself of this in order to not go through that process again.

In terms of my repetitive actions, I would say that there are two categories to them, the things I do for positive feelings or out of boredom/to concentrate (fidgeting with string when I’m stressed in a loud environment, or as an attempt to focus, pacing, fairly normal stuff) and the things I do due to negative thoughts.

Thanks for replying :D ! The negative obsessions sound a lot like OCD- that basically describes every moment of my life (not doing so great right now :( ).I also listen to songs repetitively, sometimes up to 8 hours at a time! It's the same with pacing for me as well. What songs do you like to listen to? :D

I would say I have some obsessions based on fear and anxiety as well as the positive ones. My greatest fears involve getting lost or of doing dumb things. I don't necessarily fear "failure," just doing stupid things that mess me up and inhibit forward movement.

Yeah, negative obsessions aren't fun at all. My negative obsessions include unwanted thoughts about lots of things, but the biggest negative obsession I'm having at the moment is basically hypochondria about every single mental disorder on the planet  . For some reason, I don't fear neurological disorders like autism, but I fear almost everything else. It really sucks :( . Stupid obsessive brain........ :D

My obsession is saving people from suicide. It began with saving people from road death in my mid teens and became saving people from suicide in my late adulthood when I found that road deaths had fallen below suicide as the main cause of premature deaths in Europe.

Cool! That's a pretty good thing to be obsessed with.

Any really, especially remixes (like Pogo, BluJay, Smuffy, Sim Gretina, Mr Simon and Jeesh). As long as it's catchy. :D

I don't fear autism/Asperger syndrome, either. I would fear the repercussions, personally and professionally, if I did get a diagnosis, however, and word got out. I don't need anything else that could inhibit or cancel out my future altogether. I started late and can't afford any more problems.

I don't fear any neurological disorders either. I get what you mean. I don't like it when my mom tells people about it as well.

I do have a fear of becoming somehow incapacitated and having to go to a nursing home. I don't want someone else making my decisions for me. My opportunities have been steadily growing over the past four years and I don't want anything stopping me now.

Obviously my situation is different to yours but as long as I get help for whats wrong me and a correct Dx you could tattoo that Dx on my forehead , my anxieties have always been centered around worrying what I perceive others think I have , a tattoo would eliminate that anxiety
