Your Mum stops you in a conversation which to be honest did seem to be a long one sided conversation... And she said "You're supposed to let people talk about their interests as well".

Your mum explains to you that 'sometimes people are in comic book mode, you're always in literary novel mode, it's hard to always be at that level'*

You don't think it's humble bragging to mention this

You don't really get the concept of humble bragging

* What she meant was when you're on holiday in a hot country and slightly drunk, you do not want to be talking about the intricacies of 19th century German philosophy. In my case, I will almost always want to talk about something intellectual

You argue about minute details because getting on is less important than being factually correct.

You May Be an Aspie If...

... you do something correctly, and the others say you took too long; you do something quickly, and the others say you did it wrong; you do something both quickly and correctly, and the others say you should have done something else, that you should already know why and be happy about it.

... Someone mentions toasting a bagel and the next words out of your mouth are "Here's to the worlds greatest bagel!"

... You're still rather disappointed that "The Sound of Silence" isn't what it says it is

You get into swimming pools gradually.

You like when there's a train coming at a railroad crossing instead of being annoyed at having for wait for it.

You hated fire drills when you were in school.

You do better with people significantly older or younger than you as opposed to people in your own age group.

You do all these things, but you didn't know you weren't supposed to .... until Fnord made this post.

You're constantly being corrected or criticised for being you, and all your quirks get pointed out. But when you do the same to NTs, they don't like it.

You watch movies according to your interests, not because they are the hit of the week.

Articles that show "Autistic people likely to die young," really scare you.

Apart from I don't go to swimming pools because they have people in them so they can feel crowded, ad the chlorine is horrible, the trains part is very me. Fire drills... I alwayd took all my posessions with me because I couldn't bear to be without them. I tend to find difficulty letting go of posessions, though I am much better these days then I used to be. I do better with significantly older people, but now I am somewhere in the middle, there are less significantly older people available... Younger? Maybe 20 years younger will be ok... Not thought too much about it...

You have hundreds of pages of research on a special interest, but it's incredibly disorganised because of your poor executive function and the fact you don't finish projects properly.

(In my case, it's Ancestry notes).

you're willing to stay up all night long, manually declicking one 3-minute 78 rpm phonograph recording.

You get really upset that there are pterosaurs in the dinosaur exhibit.

you get upset if you see long-haired guys in movies/tv programs depicting amuuurican military life [american military is the only one in the world that insists on high-and-tight haircuts for its male servicemembers].
