I would, from time to time, make little lists of pertinent facts from things I liked. It is a shame I didn't save them, etc... It seems that that could be an AS trait. Maybe someone HERE did that. THAT would be better.

...CBT is about using thinking strategies and behavioural strategies to manage anxiety/anger. For example: a thinking strategy is changing a poisonous thought ("I'm dumb") by using an antidote ("I think differently to others"). Behaviour is changed to better cope with anxiety/anger. For example, my sons used to yell at me or punch me when they were angry. Now they will go jump on the trampoline or ride their bike.

I understood CBT much more after reading Tony's book The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome. A lot of people associate therapy with Ivar Lovaas cruel work he did in the past with Autistic children. So they think, perhaps, therapy means changing who they are against their will.[/quote]

I didn't know that. People try to use therapy to not be AS, instead of add abilities.

I've never had therapy with a therapist, but I've used a lot of CBT stuff on my own, and it's been extremely helpful. Really, CBT is self administered. The therapist is a guide, but you have to do it. It's not something the therapist can do to you.
