You will be our translator :)
Anyway, I've announced it, in English, on Aspies.de's "Café International" forum.
I'm not a member of asperger-forum.de, nor forum.satedi.org, so I can't announce it over there.
(hopefully, people from over there will see it over here and spread the word).

That is very flattering, thank you, :) but although I could translate french to English, and vice-versa, fairly fluently, ( and understand spoken german quite well ), I was hoping that this meet would be a glorious break from having to speak french to everyone but my son, especially as I rely so heavily on verbal-language to express myself, and am constantly frustrated when speaking french because my french is simply not subtle, nuanced, rich, and "fine" enough to do the job.

So I actually hope noone is going to need a translator, except for menus and tourist information!

Eight weeks to go! :D

I am so looking forward to meeting all 5 - 9 of you who are coming.

Others are still welcome to join us. :) As English-Lulu said Ryanair is still doing some very cheap flights for that weekend,( Thursday/Friday 28/29 May to Monday 1 June ).

I can translate also ! I'm a native French speaker ! In addition, my english is good.
Oh... Can I ask a question ... :?:
May I come with my grandparents (they don't speak English), they want to visit Avignon and pass some time with one of their grandchildren :)
They also want to know better what is AS...
They are very kind and wise, and I can translate what they are telling you.
I don't think they will want to stay in the hotel, so we may go in a small Inn or do some camping. (She has a dog, and I have doubts that the hotel we are staying in accept dogs :( )
So, any people disagreeing ?

Well, my first reaction is nooooooooooooo! But I am aware that I can take some time coming round to an idea, especially when it involves radically changing my vision of what something is going to be like/plans etc.

I'm not too keen on the dog, nor on a non-english-speaking contingent who need translating to and from all the time, nor on non-WP/AS participants, nor on people wanting to be there to find out more about Aspergers.

Perhaps you or some of the others coming could help me get over these objections, which are perhaps not problems at all! :?: I suspect part of why I have objections is because we are going to be a smallish group, ( between 5 - 8 at last count ), and two non-english-speaking, non-AS, etc people in that context might be a bit overwhelming.

I think that if they just came along for a couple of hours at some point that would probably be ok ... ? Input on this from others would be very welcome ... please !

What do other people think; ManErg, Morgana, English-Lulu, KenG, Seashell, Lotusblossom, ( if you make it ), GeomAsp, raggle-taggle-gypsy ? I'm perfectly ready to see that I may be being unreasonably intolerant/rigid/whatever here, just need someone to show me in what way, or simply out-vote me. :)

In my opinion, DarthMaxeuis' grandparents, or their dog, can join us if they really want to, but they shouldn't expect us to acknowledge their presence in any way.
We will be concentrating on our aspie meeting and we will not have the time, nor energy, to speak to non-aspies.

I understand what you say ouinon...
And I realized this was a bad idea...
But I musn't go alone, so if they are just accompanying me to the meeting point without chatting with you and then visit Avignon on their own, would you be fine with it... I told them that you didn't want them to assist to our meet. They said that they were fine with this, and that they will only visit Avigon and not participate on our meet in any way.
I think it's fine this way. :)
I'm sorry for all the trouble this caused....... :(

That's just cruel to be honest.

Of course they can accompany you to the meet. :) Like I said I wouldn't mind them coming along for a couple of hours at some point, and as KenG said they could be there just so long as they weren't surprised or upset if we did not include them in the conversation, ( for more than an hour or two anyway ), because this is intended to be a meeting for AS to be together.

Also we will have all weekend, though we may not stay in Avignon for all of that time, ( may visit Isle-sur-Sorgue, Arles etc ), so there would be plenty of time for you to spend with them aswell as with us. I expect we will all meet up on the Friday lunch time, ( though others may meet before; KenG arrives Wednesday, and ManErg and Morgana on the Thursday ) and go on from there.

Great. :D I am sorry if I seemed rigid about this, and I really look forward to meeting you. I am sure that your grandparents will be welcome for a short while at least, so that they feel reassured about leaving you.

No trouble. Don't worry about it. See you soon!

Less than 7 weeks! :D

Who else wants to come, apart from ManErg, Morgana, KenG, English-Lulu, Darth-Maxeuis, Seashell, raggle-taggle-gypsy, GeomAsp, and maybe Lotusblossom?

Unfortunately I won't be able to come to the meet after all. I'm going on a coach tour of Provence with my family later this month so I won't be able to afford to go again in May. We were hoping to go from 20th to 26th May, so I could stay over until the 29th and go to the meet, but there are no places left on that holiday so we are going in April instead. I still hope to meet you all sometime, maybe at the London meet if that is still going ahead. I hope you all have a good time.

I thought the only likely problem was whether one of your exams came up on the 28/29 th May! :? Oh well.

That imploded a few weeks ago, though there's always Autscape, 3 days in mid August in London.

Thank you. I'm sure we will; there's still me, ManErg, Morgana, KenG, English-Lulu, Darth-Maxeuis, and GeomAsp, going, and maybe raggle-taggle-gypsy, ( though haven't heard from him in a while ), and an outside chance of Lotusblossom making it. :)
