There are a couple of instances that stick out in my mind of the rejection:

Jr high/High school were really one big rejection. People told me they wish I was never born and when teams were chosen for phy ed I was always last and they argued over who had to take me. I went to a really small school and changing classes wasn't an option.

This past Thanksgiving I was at my sister-in-laws parents house and I was looking through a digital photo alblum and saw a picture of my brother reading something at church and I saw my niece (who was 6 months old at the time) and I knew it was the child dedication ceremony (a Baptist equivalent to infant baptism). I made it clear to them that I wanted to be there for that and I would do anything to be there (I live only an hour away). I wasn't invited and I am my nieces only aunt and she is likely going to be the only grandchild on either side of the family (my brother and sister in law tried for 16 years to have a baby). I aske my brother what he was reading in church (he didn't know that I figured it out already) and when he told me it was very clear that I was upset and he couldn't even say he was sorry.

Reading this thread is really quite upsetting.

I would love to re-arrange some peoples faces tbh.

I don't know if you're taking the piss but that means to punch the crap out of them.

I can remember that when i was 5 OR 6, some children bent me to a tree in a forest, and I had to stay there the entire night without sleeping.

I don't know if this one is worse, but........

When I was 14, I was on a trip with some guys to the mountains, and when we were to go home, they tricked me to say; "Just try to sleep if you're bored". And I did that, I expected them to wake me in some way, but no, I woke up and nobody was around, I didn't know where to go, I was alone far away in the mountains, I found the way back after some hours when I miraculously when I saw the guys' heads on the horizon, and I followed (ran) after them about 7 more times until they leaded the way back.

That's horrible. Did your parents report them? Were those children punished?

If I told them, the kids would do something way worse.

That's not rejection, that's crime, and it's not the topic of this thread.

If the adults around you didn't do anything about it, you could've reported them (the adults) to the welfare authorities and/or the police. It's past for you, I know, but others are reading here too and should know they have options.

I cut the bottom of my foot open when I was a kid. One day at school, a boy walked up and asked which foot I'd hurt. Like a fool, I pointed. The boy stomped down on my injured foot and ground in his heel.

I tripped on sidewalk lint and fell in a mud puddle one day, and got up, shook myself off, and came face to face with a kid who asked me, "Why don't you just kill yourself?"

Some days, though, it seems like a fair question.

Who the hell wants to live in a world full of that kind of meanness anyway?

Ralou, again, that's not cruel rejection - that's attack. They're 2 different things. I think it's important to differentiate between the two, not because one of them is not the topic of this thread, but because knowing what we're dealing with can only help us deal (and heal) better. (I mean, I don't mind at all that attacks is not the topic of the thread, all your comments are very important here. But I do want to draw a drastic, blunt distinction between what consists rejection and what consists an attack).

Ugh this thread holds some of my most painful memories. It's slightly depressing to see it back up.

No offence, Greentea.

I've had friends not invite me to parties and other things but doesn't mean its rejection. I think due to poor social skills I find it hard to give the impression that I want to go. A lot of the same friends have said this in retrospect like "I didn't think you were interested" and not in a malicious way.

Cruel(lest) ways I've been rejected...

Ignored and rejected. But it all depends on how well I've known that person and what they're like. I've gotten to the point now in which I'll either let it go or go the extremes in avoiding them at all costs.

When I was 11, half the girls in my class were going Trick-or-Treating together as Winnie the Pooh characters. I wanted to go with them, but they refused to let me join and embarrassed me at school by yelling that I wasn't part of the group and not their friend.
