The Greta Thunberg Debate
I've not heard her directly but I know of her. If her style is anything like they say, her emotional presentation would probably put me off, because I'm barely capable of listening to emotive speakers, I'm only receptive to people who speak calmly and quietly. I think it's a sensory thing with me, and a reaction to having heard so many people before trying to con me with fake emotion, so that my gut reaction to emotional public displays is disdain.
But that doesn't mean I think she's bogus or wrong. Sometimes emotion is genuine. The powers that be don't seem to be doing enough about global warming, and I don't want the planet to fry. And if Trump hates her, that makes me want to give her a chance, because he stands for a lot of the things I hate. I've heard about him calling her mentally ill, and I think that's just another cheap, dishonest trick of his, and a gross insult to our image. I've heard his take on global warming before - "there's no such thing, and it's not us causing it, it's China." I've heard more convincing denials from Billy Bunter.
Like her or dislike her, it's the veracity of her message that matters.
