A doona is an Australian invention apparently. It is a down/feather filled comforter type thingy that is sewn in such a way as to allow the feathers and down to be moved around to make warmer or cooler bedcovering. You can even have one side warmer than the other - very useful if your partner doesn't like to sleep in an oven and you do.

The doona usually has a cover that is a bit like a big pillowcase that can be removed and laundered just like sheets. Some people have a sheet between them and the doona, others don't. The good thing about the doona is that you can make it warmer or cooler and they lie lightly on you. I love being able to poke my feet out without destroying my bedding.

light warm and non-restrictive...

two things that make it useless in helping me sleep

light and non-restrictive... for some reason i become very calmed when i am restrained in some way...

Well, I guess I can answer this question about sensations. I have many favorite sensations, such as hugs... I love hugs. I also enjoy wrapping my blankets around myself at night, completely immobilizing myself... very nice, very comforting.

I also have a love for soft items, usually stuffed animals. I enjoy hugging them, and rubbing my face in their fur.

Another of my sensations would be smell... and while I don't do this as often in my adulthood, I used to always smell myself... just seemed to be the right thing to do or something... maybe it's just a stim... who knows.

and another person to add to the pool of people who find immobilization/restraint comforting...

i also like soft thingies too...

not really sure about the smell thing... i think that could possibly be a sort of stim for ya!

I like the feel of cold smooth steel or ice on my forehead.
I really like deep tissue massage but light touch is dreadful.
I love my scalp being massaged firmly or scratched with long nails.

i could do without cold steel and ice... i dont like them, although i do like an ice pack on my legs sometimes but thats because of my high muscle tone.

i love deeeep pressure massage, i cant get my back done anymore because i have major scoliosis and other spinal issues, but because my muscle tone is high in my legs we do deep tissue massage to help get muscles to release, thing is it does nothing for release of the muscles but it does do quite a bit for lessening the pain and relaxing the rest of me!

I like being hit with a cold wind, the feeling of ice cubes in my hands, candlelight, deep pressure (but not as much from people), feathers, really tight bras, and the feeling of my feet on the cool, damp stones around creeks. :cyclopsani:

I mean gentle and slow rubbing...it's almost hypnotic.

sorry about that... your reply was short and flew right under my radar *expands frequency bands* now it should pay attention to the higher frequency replies..

anyways, i dont have much hair so its like something i could take or leave... this sensory "sweet spot" seems to be more common in girls for what i think?

http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt50948.html

thread crosslink...

i tend to like to crosslink my threads when two threads come into extremely close relation...

a snippet from the thread above is below

"Some physical and occupational therapists are finding that a special garment, originally designed to help support children with cerebral palsy, is helping kids with other disorders achieve the same effect as swaddling. The garment gives them a soothing feeling of comfort."

the thread contains a full news release and also a full voting interface... please go there for further discussion on that topic or discuss it here... voting MUST be done there though
