What is being said of males here is the same that was said of slaves, or autistics.
Autism, has been stolen, by Fund Raisers, for money, by Quacks, for money, by Psychology, for money. Drug companies for money.
Promoting it as a horror, where anything else is better, has lead to many spending their lives locked up suffering abuse that way beyond any sex abuse you could imagine, massive doses of drugs, ice water baths, electroshock, electro convulsive, and cattle prods. That was daily treatment.
My advice from the fifties to the seventies, would be murder a few people, murders were treated better.
After the 1974 court case that released all non criminals detained for being different, almost all just blended into the world that had had them locked up for life without a hearing, for no cause.
They were not called Aspies, we have no hard numbers, but most were able to merge with the world, after years locked away.
As most who are making a cause of it, and money off of it, define it, real numbers were hard to find.
One in 150 seems to be some degree of offical disability, meeting the three criteria for Aspergers.
It can be a disability, it is broad, different for each, there is no standard Aspie.
Bad Aspie is still someone who could get a Degree, with some accomidation. HFA fits in this range, maybe disabled, but allowed out on the street alone.
The next rung is those who do need supported living, at least for a while, and Behold! They leave their Group Homes and go out in the world alone! Some only go out in groups with a tour guide, but they go out. they may be one in fifteen hundred.
There are people who will spend their lives in institutional care, maybe one in 15,000, and since the internet, the keyboard, we have found that, there is an active mind there, some good writers, and they do take vacations to the world, but need a structured living arrangment.
Then there is the one in 150,000 that everyone claims as the poster child of Autism, They do have to be locked in, are hard to deal with, have to be fed and wear diapers, and can be anything from very sweet, to very dangerous to be around.
This is not Autism, it is a broad set of traits, which can be very strong, but less than three criteria, not even Aspie lite. 90% of Autism is The Broader Autism Phenotype, which does not meet disability criteria, but is just as real. Just one or two strong impairments can be a major life problem.
This amounts to 10%+ of the population.
Autism Speaks wins the Autistic Demons Marketing Award. Painting all to be the one in 150,000.
It brings in the bucks, and they have crushed the competition, Snake Oil, Metals, Vaccines, Drugs, Mothers, proving each a fraud. None of this is a cause of Autism.
They have also funded Genetic Study, selling extirminate the disabled, it worked before, then proving that the Genetics are very complicated, and no selctive abortion is possible.
While their marketing can sound harsh, Cure Them! Cure Them All! It does bring in the money.
I am spying on them. I am good at business, I read their reports to the government, and look at what they are funding. For what they are running, they do not make big bucks, and the highest paid, I call the University Problem, they are paying a lot for top talent, if you want it, match the price. Luck has it that they are Scientists, which does not involve a ball, if a ball was involved the pay would be ten to a hundred times as much.
What they are funding is what I would fund, to me, the Max Planck Institute publishing the Neanderthal Genome was the story of the decade. I follow the brain research John Elder Robison writes about, I would expect it from a well written Science Based Star Trek, but they got hung up on Psychobabble and wonder drugs. This is brain tuning as Commander LeForge would do it, if Engineering pushed into biorebuild.
It is going on in labs funded by Autism Speaks. I would sign up for clinical trials.
While the money machine still pushes the Horror of Autism, the field work is early childhood intervention, it works, and programs coming out for adults, with a good show in trials, and a lot of left over Science that is showing how the brain works. Autism is not the whole world, and the world needs a tuneup.
Autism is a good model of lopsided brain development, it is all there, works, but only some parts are running, others are dormant, but can be woken up.
This is important to other conditions, like being human, 98% are not functioning as Creative, yet we know from brainscans of the Creative, they are just running the whole brain, and that stuff just happens.
Are you Left or Right Brain? if you are, you are defective, for Creative humans use both, and get a third for free, and it can be taught, or induced through Engineering.
Autism Speaks has not supported Psychology or Drugs, and the Science produced is Science, it works.
No matter what they say, their Science has one message, CURE NTs NOW!
It would be a hard sell to tell all people they are defective, and in need of a brain tuneup, it is the truth, always a hard sell.
Autistic children may be the lab rats in this, but they were well studied, the resuts are real, and can be applied to all pre schoolers.
We feed them, even if they do not work, vaccinate them, send them to school, early, and expend much effort, to turn out better humans, for the lot we have are the cause of most problems, and we know it.
They are a plastic lot, a Tri-Lingual Kindergarten turns out children fluent in three languages in a year! Just try that with College students!
Having their brains fully optimized for life, is just another class.
According to Max Planck, 15% are part Neanderthal, Northern Europeans and the Han Chinese. up to 4% different DNA. Who knows what else lurks in our gene pool?
Mark Twain complained about our school system, saying it destroyed those who could think, to make them like those who could not.
Here is where Autism could be useful, our larger group has all the human traits, and it opens the view, that balance is good, one strong talent can be a problem, broad development does work, and unlike other Diversity, Autism is ruled out where any mental illness is present.
We need to show off the peaks of human development, in Autism, for they are just human. Then if the Autistic say, their lives were broadened by treatment, and it would work on anyone, it would pave the way to offer the same treatment to all children.
We are near the point where a helmet run video game can be controlled by brain activity, and in turn, can control and develop brain activity.
No one knows why some areas shut down, others do everything, but we do know what happens from each area, and that when they all run, it is better. The brain built the hard drive, which becomes fragmented, and it's function decreases, it can be defraged, it is good.
If a treatment develops language and social skills for Autistics, it can develop math, spelling, art and music, for other children.
We are at the leading edge of the most important science of all time, the brain refreshing the brain.
So I would like to buy a Social Skill for $200, Alex, and sell a detailed knowledge of Climate History to the rest.
None of us do the impossible, we just peak in some human skill, and neglect others.
The road is open for higher peaks and and broader function in all people.
It is the Autistic that can show that Savant skills are human, and that if our low functioning areas can be improved, so can your child's math scores.
I am for Science, Tech, and better humans. Autism Speaks is producing the Science, and the Autistic are a large enough group to take it mainstream.
We are the only group with inside knowledge, another would be the 2% who rate Creative who have fully functioning brains, and the 88% between, are best avoided.
Like the Autism Speaks Marketing problem, they have to be sold something they do not understand.
So we do need to do some public relations work, link with the creative, support the science, and the academic community. Autism Speaks has almost worked themselves out of a job, they are ready for a new mission, a big one.
Together we can make the largest advance in human history.
