Banned from the forums?

Reform is about a focus on prevention of negative behaviors, education about what constitutes a negative behavior and why, and introspection, possibly as a result of behavioral intervention, to cultivate and integrate more positive replacement behaviors.

Oh I forgot, I was banned on one forum because I wasn't active enough. I signed on again and I haven't been on since the day I joined (3rd Jan) and I haven't been banned yet haha.

Yes, but it's been a long time, and I was going through a bad time when it happened. Not proud of it but live and learn I guess.

I was banned from http://www.hotwheelscollectors.com when I was 12, for being flat-out annoying and underaged.

I have never been banned.
I have received a couple of "guiding" notices from Mods here on WP - and it is usually an issue of bluntness and/or naivety in me. In all fairness, on reflection, when i went and reviewed what I had done, the contact by the mods was balanced and correct.
I'm new to forums and it has taken a while to actually undertsand how they work.

Initially I would react vehemently to others who flamed me or disagreed with me. These kinds of exchanges were all new to me. As time has gone on, I have learned to ignore who I want to ignore and I have also learned there are posters and threads that are more interesting to me. I stick with those and ignore the rest, really.

This is the only forum I have ever belonged to, except for a very brief foray onto another AS chat group thing, which didn't suit me.

Actually, I was hoping for a bit of a deeper discussion on how not getting the nonverbal rules can make participation in forums very hard for Aspies... Forums are also a good example of how you can have nonverbal messages without body language to help you decipher them. I was never in trouble with T&C, but always because I didn't get the nonverbal no-nos. Once I was banned for saying that not all parents did the best they knew how to - in a forum for childhood abuse survivors. How on earth are you supposed to know what the website owner is into and what he doesn't want to hear??????

Greentea, I've never been banned thank you from any particular forums yet, I'll state for the record I've had to deal with members of the so-called,"Empire" no reference to Star Wars merrely a symbolic reference to people whom feel they own a forum and have the say-so as to who can say what if this makes sense.Anyways, I remain an honorable person..

Banned from about three places. I was banned from a bravenet forum for spamming it because I didn't like the owner and I was tyring to get the members to leave that forum to go back to the other forum they all abandoned but poor problem solving I did there.

When zomgaspies first opened up, the old forum, I was banned from there on accident because we had a spammers there and the mods banned them and they accidently put down my IP address. On the current one I created a sockpuppet pretending to be Joon because some other members had created sockpuppets so I joined in. That account got banned.


I was banned from a place Timelord runs because I was on a forum called The Truth About Timelord and he hacked into the place and banned every single person on there for his site and banned all the members on that forum too he took over.


I guess four places I was banned from.


Oh yeah don't forget this place so five then. My old account is banned.

GreenTea your hopes for this thread was what I meant by non written rules. I haven't expressed myself very well. I've read the posted rules.

I think if there is an unwritten rule somewhere, I'll be sure to transgress it!

The sockpuppet (I'm more familiar with it as smurfing or fakeposting) incident only partially counts I'd say if they don't ban your main account as well and an accidental ban that got resolved is a little different as well. Don't ask me exactly how that is relevant.

The barrier to entry for the creation of a web forum is low enough, mobility within the internet high enough that it is easy for anybody who wants to act out an authoritarian fantasy to do so. Start one up and end up with a community that joins because of a shared interest and establishes a group bond, then it gets subverted by the person who controls the means of communication they have in common. In these cases, it is not necessarily the nonverbal rules that are the issue. A tendency to not just conform for conformities sake and rather hold to a logical argument until it is defeated with reason is more likely to be what gets your head to stick out above the rest and get scythed.

Unwritten rules are extremely complex, the rule in one situation is the rule in that one situation and no others. You have to start getting very specific to understand how they all work, and far less than one might prefer transfers to other areas. Each scenario can feel like square one all over again.
