I collect Basketball Cards, I have since I was 11. ( I even have Jordan's Rookie, along with 300 other Cards and Items from Mike)

I also collect Wrestling Figures, Which I have done since I was 7.

I also collect a lot of s**t from my family for it.

I collect ticket stubs of all the concerts and events I've been to (well over 400)

I realised I collect leaflets and/or flyers from occasions such as concerts I see - I just have to otherwise I feel empty and upset. Time before last I came away with a full-size poster, an A5 flyer or three, the tickets (oh yes, must keep tickets if nothing else,) a couple of leaflets advertising other concerts, and a mini paper hat my friend's Mum made for me. I was so chuffed with the poster and the hat - the hat now lives on my violin scroll :D

I'm obsessed with anything that's Halo (Anyone whose played the games should easily see where my username came from), Xbox, and lots of random computer stuff, like programming, websites, etc. I'm getting into PHP and MySQL right now.

You to?

Since you are obsessed with Halo, you I might not bore you with this information:

Both Guilty Spark and Penitent Tanget have numbers in front of their names, but did you notice that 343 is 7^3 and 2401 is 7^4..... also 7^6 is 117649. I'm not sure if that is the basis for the choice of 117 or if the verse in revelations is.

Anyway I have rambled long enough to annoy you. (though I could go on...)

Foreign coins. I especially like the Indian provinces, German states, and Sassanian Empire.

Also collect reference books on sewing and crewelwork.

Have a tendency to collect dust. But that's unintentional.

When I was a kid I collected buttons: I somehow misread a fashion trend for a socially acceptable collectable LOL. I put away the button collection when my peers became hysterical about it. No really, hand made shell buttons and painted buttons and yes I still notice interesting buttons on people's clothing but I try not to comment on them ; ) A lot of history in buttons. Oh and I'll buy clothing because of the buttons.

I collect JR Tolkien stuff and any trivia on the Inklings, books, moss rose royal doulton china pattern and have a fascination for china and glass objects that have survived the test of time. Currently I have a discworld fettish.

No objects don't replace people, they have a fascination in themselves. Its the whole collating, cataloguing, understanding the story behind it thingy. I don't think other people are particularly interested but its great when they are. I realise that people ask questions about topics and its a good idea not to give them detailed answers i.e. on the subject of buttons unless you are certain they really are interested. When you talk about your collections other people feel auspergers *grins*. I think the obsession is to collect parts in understanding the whole. Its a reassuring thingy. Its obsessive but not compulsive, my collections and interests change with experiences.

I tried starting a few collections at one point or another, but my parents throw away anything I don't hide properly, so it's pretty much a futile effort. Even if I do keep a collection properly hidden, but one day forget to, guess what my parents do with it. Once I move into my own place, I'm going to start a collection (or collections) once again, and probably break all contact with my parents for the rest of my life, save for a brief phone call once a month. What they did is totally unacceptable.

Sorry for the rant, but then again, my only consolation is knowing how my parents would feel if they saw this.

I collect a lot of comics. I get an average of 30 books a month, not counting trade paperbacks. I buy anything related to Superman or the Justice Society of America (the very first super team), anything by Grant Morrison, Warren Ellis, or Geoff Johns, and then whatever else that seems cool.

I also collect a lot of DVDs. It started off with movies, but now I almost exclusively get TV sets and only grab movies I really like. Tieing in my my comics obsession, I buy all the DC shows on DVD (Superman, Batman, Justice League, etc).

Those two areas really consume most of my money. If I have anything left over I'll try to grab a CD. I try to get every release from the artists I like, and the soundtracks to the movies/games I like.

I collect things made of metal: parts of machines, gears, ball bearings, springs, pistons, and other things which I can't enumerate or identify but which I find asthetically pleasing somehow.

Also old bottles, chunks of thick glass, vacuum tubes, and other randoms things I find on the ground or elsewhere. To really be a part of this collection something has to be found, not bought.

I also went through a phase where I collected cut-out pieces of product logos, advertisements, packaging, stickers, signs, etc. I collected anything I could find which could be put in a new context and given a new meaning, for example, the "no dumping" sign that currently hangs on my bathroom door.

I also collect coins, but not in a serious way. I only collect ones I happen to find in the normal course of my day which are somehow different, unique or rare.

When I was a kid I always had a bit of a fascination with anything spherical, so I ended up with a bit of a ball collection.

As they tend to be awesome, I am slowly becoming a diehard Treasure fan.

Treasure, for those that are not acquainted, are perhaps best known for Gunstar Heroes on the SEGA Genesis. Other games of theirs include:

Dynamite Headdy (Genesis)
Alien Soldier (Genesis)
Light Crusader (Genesis)
Rakyugai Showtime (Playstation)
Silhouette Mirage (Playstation/Saturn)
Guardian Heroes (Saturn)
Radiant Silvergun (Saturn)
Mischief Makers (N64)
Bangai-Oh (N64/Dreamcast)
Sin and Punishment: Successor to the Earth (N64)
Ikaruga (Dreamcast/Gamecube)
Silpheed: Lost Planet (PS2)
Gradius V (PS2)
Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA)
Astro Boy Omega Factor (GBA)
Bleach DS (DS)

Of course, they have a few duds like Wario World but who doesn't? (Except for Looking Glass Studios, may it rest in peace)?

So far, I only have Guardian Heroes for the Saturn, and Ikaruga for the Gamecube. Despite me liking the PSP's hardware better than that of the DS (if only for it's hackability), I am probably going to get a DS if only for Bleach DS.

animal skulls. I have various ones I have found, including a hawksbill turtle found in Borneo and a flamingo skull I found in kenya. My pride and joy is a replica sabre-toothed cat skull I ordered from bone clones in the u.s. 300 quid and worth every penny. I also collect animal teeth, my two favourites being a woolly mammoth tooth and a massive sperm whale tooth from the victorian era. I used to collect various animal parts such as feathers, pelts (usually roadkills) and I liked messing around with turkey feet by pulling the tendons. :D plus a load more I haven't listed.
