I don't mind the sight of fireworks but don't like the noise they make. Usually I cover my ears, and sometimes not even that helps.

I'm still sensitive to the sound they make, and kind of flinch even at seeing them if I'm outside, but I *like* watching them.

It's a tradition here. At midnight, when the new year starts, everyone goes outside, generally with a lot of fireworks.
Last year, I was nearly injured three times, but I enjoyed it. It's not really an issue, unless idiots across the street start throwing flashbang-ish things at us, expecting us to fire bottle rockets back.

For me: it equals awesome. I love them, and I love extremely loud rock with lots of bass, loud enough to shake the balconies.

I can see where it would be bothersome for a lot of Aspies though. My KIDS are always yelling at me to turn down my music, not because they don't like it either.

Damn. I thought I got free of that when I moved out of my parent's house thirty years ago.

I'm terrified of them - not really the fireworks, but them being in the hands of numbskulls. I do enjoy seeing them and the bangs don't disturb me at all. But, I hear of so many horrific incidents involving pets and wild animals. I've also heard of kids being injured, for instance, a bully put a lit firework in a child's hood. In the UK, we used to only see/hear them on Guy Fawkes night (5th November), but since 2000, we've had them at New Year too. When I say 'New Year', I mean they can go off for weeks or months before and after the event, in the middle of the night, maybe one or two an hour, just enough to disturb sleep. I heard some going off a few nights ago, I don't know what for.

I like fireworks myself, assuming I expect them. Last year (not around a holiday so completely unexpected) one of my idiot neighbors shot a big on off while I was outside, which detonated about a hundred feet above me, and burning stuff only missed me by inches. I almost passed out.

This is the weirdest thing because I have terrible sensory issues with my ears but fireworks do not bother me emotionally or physically at all. They don't make me jump, and if one was silently going into the air when I'm not looking then exploded, it will make me jump but to the same extent as most other people, meaning my nerves won't be completely shattered and I can go on doing what I was doing without another one banging worrying me. But take something like a dog barking for instance, when a dog barks (whether I know it's coming or not), I jump out of my skin and my heart thumps and I am like a frightened cat, and then I hear the noise over and over in my head for the next ten minutes and spend the rest of the duration getting prepared if it barks again, like sitting there with my fingers in my ears or ready to be put in my ears at any little movement the dog might make. But with fireworks I do not react like this at all.

Maybe my nerves only react to noises that are closer to me rather than far away. Fireworks are too far away, and although they're still loud, I think the echoes they make kind of cushions the sound so that it hits my ears more gently, whereas a dog barking or a balloon popping or a car bibbing near me are closer to me and so are ''sharper'' noises which affect my nerves more.
