Every year I get rejected. I may actually have a date this year, I'll have to wait and see. So my opinon is going from hating it to possibly enjoying it, depending on the results.

I hate Valentine's Day. I hate the fact that I never get anything from my peers. It makes me feel bad. Besides, why does this day have to be special for people who are in love. I would think that you can show your love for somebody in your own special way and on any kind of day. So, why does there have to be a special day for that when you can show your love for somebody 24/7.

It seems to me that I can't just have a normal Valentine's Day, it just isn't another day, it always becomes a surreal experience. Same with New Year's Eve. Just once I want it to be a plain ordinary day.

I love Valentine's Day. I'm going to give Chico a little Doggie Blanket. I've even downloaded some special Valentine's Wallpaper. Two Routemasters and two Red Phone Booths side by side in the same picture. The Message that I've decoded from the picture is, "I love you, twice as much!" Maybe I've been watching too much Austin Powers Movies. Another thing that makes Valentine's Day fun. An excuse for me to watch Austin Powers Movies, all week.[/img]

I do not like Valentine's Day because I never did the things others did. Though I did not really understand it when I was around 10 I just was given cards and gave them to everyone.
( I never much kept up with the things others did, so it explains why the global aloofness)

Now that I know it's to go on a date or something I can't really comment. I was lucky enough to have a 3 sentence conversation in person with a new person that was a lady my age today. That was the first time in a very long time aside from a server person to get food.

So Valentine's Day in the sense for the things known as "love" and relationships I have no idea. So I dislike it, but at the same time such things are overwhelming and entirely random and changing.

To think all the mental energies wasted in the common human to due with sexual desires and relational things..

Seems sadistic.

I'd rather be a monk...

the way stores are putting out all these hearts and candy and jewlery and crap before christmas is over is disgusting. Shouldnt we celebrate love EVERY day if we have it?

The commercialism must be worse in the US (I assume) than Aus (where I live). There's not much in the way of sales or decorations in shops etc that I've noticed. It's usually just a casual holiday, not everyone does stuff on Valentine's Day either. My Father doesn't. But he does do random things throughout the year, like he'll come home with a bouqet fo flowers for no reason. Or whatever. I like that, but I also like Valentine's Day as a day to do something REALLY special, that you wouldn't do everyday.

In Canada the commercialism is the same (vancouver-seattle diff).

For me, I am going to a death by chocolet party!

Probably the only "holiday" that I can even say its ok. All others are BS, esp. despise birthdays.

I hate Valentine's Day candy. It's just gross. How can you people like that stuff? The only good ones are the ones with the caramel...the rest are just gross.

Anyway, my favorite Valentine's Day was when my (female) friend and I decided to be each other's valentines and we both bought each other bags that we filled with the typical Valentine's day stuff: A rose, some candy (not icky V-Day candy though), and a stuffed animal. We had dinner and watched a chick flick. Best Valentine's Day ever. When you don't have a SO, it's always a good time to spend the day with a friend who's also single. The rest of my Valentine's Days sucked because I have to be reminded that I'm single.

I'm not really affected by Valentine's Day. All these stupid holidays sort of "pass by" without me noticing.. so, in short, I am entirely neutral to it.

I don't really care either way, except if people give me chocolates. Then I like it.
