This describes it perfectly, actually. Plus that if I get obsessed with anything or need to solve a problem (same thing, really), I often forget about sleeping. My body's lousy at telling me when it's time. :(

Yes; once in a while, I pull off an all nighter, but not too often. I usually stay awake all night by the want to stay awake; I don't use energy drinks, caffeine, or amphetimenes to stay awake, simply because I don't want to be addicted to those things, and that I don't want to rely on them to stay awake. I don't think I'd like being addicted to anything, since I don't want to become ill if I don't have these energy boosters at the moment to stay awake. I guess lots of people have their opinions about these things, I just like being able to stay awake by a natural means, and go to sleep that way as well.

sleep for me is not an activity i do to give myself energy. Sleep is something i do for fun or when bored.

Not quite all-nighters because if my parents found out they'd kill me. So the latest I do (without the aid of insomnia) is generally 3 / 4 am. I can do that every night for a wekk, function Ok at school and all that, but I have to sleep it off sometime at the weekend. I once couldn't get to sleep til 8.30 am due to insomnia, fortunately that was during a school holiday. I find that my brain's just permanently active, but my body just wants to crash - awkward. But I'd happily pull all-nighters if I was allowed - I think I'll end up doing that at Uni, though I know it's not exactly good for me. All I need is music, and preferably a computer, but music's fine by itself!

In Maine we have a local Soft drink called "Moxie", it was an energy drink long before Red Bull. I used to drink a half gallon a night when I worked at a local nursing home on the Night Shift.

Peace

It's changed from when I was a kid. It used to have a more "bitter" aftertaste, which I liked. Now it's actually sweeter, but, since I don't work nights anymore, I don't drink it.

Peace

I don't use anything to stay awake. I have this thing about self-control, so I insist on making myself stay awake all by myself, even if that involves jabbing my pen repeatedly into my arm. You have more control over yourself than you think. Lately when I was up working till 3:10 I was able without difficulty to summon enough energy and mental alertness to finish what I was doing. I had it just as long as I needed it and no longer. As soon as I was finished I stood up and then simply fell down where I stood and slept immediately, lying on the floor.

I used to stay up for nights at time a few years back but i didn't need to use anything to do so namely cause i had insomnia for most of my earlier life so caffiene wasn't really necessary, i just couldn't sleep.

I do it frequently. I will have to agree with the poster above who mentioned the military that the best way to do it is through eating good food like bread and fruit. For me the problem is not staying up, i often do it simply because i forget to sleep, but the day after. I often fall asleap in school afterwards.

Coffee is your friend.
