I am probably going to have to go on some pills for my anxiety when I have a kid. But I will see. I have my husband too. I don't expect to be on the computer all the time anymore when I have one. Because I love to talk, I might not have a problem talking to other parents.

There really are no pills you can be on for anxiety when you have kids. I guess it depends on the person, but if you take something like Xanax or Valium, you can't really be caring for little children. I have tried anxiety meds and the only ones that really help also knock me out a bit or make me fuzzy. Can't take them and still drive the kids around and all that. Plus they are habit-forming, and most doctors don't want to give more than a month or two supply. That's my experience anyway.

I also love to talk, especially on the computer. But it's very hard when I talk to people who don't understand what I'm talking about and I don't even realize it until I've been talking for ten minutes straight. I have so little in common with other mothers that it's hard to talk to them. People tend to think I'm negative or depressing, but it's only because of the tone of my voice and my not-so-great eye contact. So although I'm happy to talk to the other parents, it's the reaction of the other parents that gets me down. I think I'm making regular casual conversation, but they usually smile and walk away from me after a minute and it's pretty clear they aren't warming up to me. I guess the main problem is my realization that I'm different and this makes me self-conscious around people I know are not the type of people who tend to accept me.

I used to take medication for anxiety. Buspar. I felt it didn't help much though but I was on different medication for a short bit when I was 20. I didn't see the point in helping myself if my ex wasn't going to help himself. It wouldn't be fair. I didn't experiance side effects.
