I prefer to be alone the majority of the time, mainly because it is less work. I have certain people, family mainly, whose company I enjoy, but even with them I have to work too hard at interaction.

The rare times I have the house to myself are the best. It's the only time I can truly relax and just be myself... and also the time when I get the most work done :P

I like to be alone when I am at home or when Im watching tv or when I am in deep thought.
When Im out in public I like being around friends. I hate being alone in public because I become insecure as I see other people with their friends and Im all alone.
However, at school I don't mind being with friends or being alone. But I prefer being around friends.

Being in the fireplace??

I've never lived anywhere with a fireplace, but once in a while I like to stick my head in the microwave.

Just kidding.

i mean being in the room with the fireplace

You said it, brother! I just baked two big loaves of whole wheat bread and the aroma is filling my little house, and I am now drinking some nice Twinings Earl Grey tea. It is too early to light the fireplace so I am going to strap on my snowshoes and go for a tromp. A few flakes of snow are beginning to fall and the woods are awesomely white and quiet. I have seen nobody since a few days before Christmas and life alone in the woods is the best.

It can be really great! :) I can go into my own world, do whatever I want (in a way), watch whatever I want on TV or go on the PC, and the silence can really be soothing! :D

I enjoy solitude. I do like to socialise often, but I do quite enjoy my "alone-time" as well.

Mmmmmm...just thinking about being all by myself in the woods (well, I'm not really alone if I get lucky enough to have owls and a full moon to keep me company) makes me feel like the tension is draining out of my body. Enjoy your hike!! !

Lots of birds spend the winter and are good company - woodpeckers, nuthatches, blue jays, chickadees. I see (and hear) many owls from spring to fall, and later in the winter I sometimes see great grey owls, which let one get very close. Magnificent birds indeed.
