I can think of a context where it is bad.

I did not line up toys persay, that I can remember...I lined up um...

pennies....old keys..(my dad's best friend had an old key collection that I loved to play with, and playing involved lining them up)...
then...one time....I lined up all the canned goods that my parents brought home from the grocery store in a pyramid on top of the refrigerator......not intending any harm, but if someone had opened the freezer, then all the cans would have fallen on their heads.....

I've often heard that parents will freak out if their child lines up their toys because they think they are autistic. My two year old nepphew lines up his Cars cars all the time. He's learning about color and same vs diffrent that way. We have more than one of a certian car so fights don't break out because two kids want to play with Lightning McQueen at the same time. My other nepphew was at school and my two year old nepphew was the only one intrested in the Cars cars at the momment. He lined up both Lightning McQueens and all the other red cars and started making rows with other colors. He said something but he's just learning to form actual words so most of what he says comes out as giberish that only my sister-in-law can interpret. To some parents this would be a "red flag" and they would want him to be assed for autism. Even if a child really is autistic, why is it such a negetive thing for them to line up their toys?

There seem to be two issues here:

1. Is it 'wrong' (read for this harmful) for children to line up their toys?

I line up the pens, paperweights rulers and other assorted objects on my desk without any psychotic reaction so far

2. Do parents freak out when they see this and or do people who do NOT do this, consider it a bit strange

This reminds me of the left-handed phobia that some parents have.
In some cultures, left handed kids are more or less forced to be right handed

I guess some parents do freak out for.............whatever reason.

As for the general population, who gives a flying ...............saucer....................WHAT they think??
