Question for the people without a professional diagnoses.

What has stopped you from pursuing a dx?
I can't afford to pay for a consultation. 42%  42%  [ 14 ]
I'm too young to arrange one and my parents/guardians won't assist me. 9%  9%  [ 3 ]
I have another diagnoses and my psychiatrist/psychologist won't reassess my situation. 9%  9%  [ 3 ]

My thought exactly! (Except in my case, it´s 48 years).

Also, I live in Germany- (though I am American)- and I´m worried about trying to get a diagnosis in another language. And around the time that I was really strongly thinking about looking into a diagnosis, I was diagnosed with cancer, so the cancer thing kind of took over the Asperger thing.

At one point, I contacted the National Autistic Society in England, to see if I could get a diagnosis there. They said no, I couldn´t because I didn´t live there and had no GP, and said I should do it in Germany. They did send me a lot of literature, as well as the AQ test. They said that many older adults who believe they have AS just take the test, and are satisfied to self diagnose. So, that´s what I did.
