I'm glad someone else did this joke too, I was starting to feel weird.

Both of your comments made me laugh, and I was going to comment, but then I thought "what if it wasn't actually intentional and I just laugh at their mistake?" I decided to play it safe and say nothing. But now that it's out...

Pretty much guilty on all counts here. Not so much speaking, I at least don't notice myself doing it if I do, but I'm really bad at doing it while writing online.

I do it with writing and speaking too. It's common in AS, but also ADHD and dyslexia too.
My sister tends to do it when she's stoned. I say to her 'wow, I'm like that when I'm sober.'
^^

Ive had someone ask me that before, because of this.

I frequently seem to get lost in what I am saying and need to stop, re-group and continue again.
It can be really embarrassing at times.

I have problems finishing my sentences and finding words when I talk. My daughter got in the habit of trying to finish my sentences for me when she was really little. It annoys me a lot, but she is only trying to help. The problem is that she never gets the missing words right!

Well, I HAVE had this happen more than I would care to admit, though it isn't common, and I usually correct myself quickly.

This is something that runs in my family. We often forget words or names and replace them with a variant of "thing".

When people outside the family are present at a family gathering they have a very difficult time understanding what we're talking about.

i sometimes leave out every word in every sentence of every paragraph that i want to say.

people have a hard time understanding me if i say nothing.

it does not matter because at least i understand what i failed to say and that is enough for me.

I don't leave words out, but sometimes I do have trouble putting my thoughts together into words.

OMG, I do this all the dang time!

Not only do I miss several (ironically key) words when I speak or type, but I spell words backwards without realizing it at first, and even miss entire paragraphs that I had planned in my mind. One time when I had to write vocabulary words for a class several years ago, I wrote all the words backwards without realizing it. Not only that, but when I had to write sentences, I didn't write any articles (ie 'the') and it looked like a dyslexic russian wrote it.

I'm just glad that spelling isn't a requirement in my AP World History classes.
