But my point is that Adam going for the kiss at all didn't fit the character. He was supposedly so shy and awkward in his interactions. It doesn't fit that he would kiss that girl and go for that bold of a move.

There were elements of Adam's personality that I related to, and would probably be very similar if I had been sheltered all my life. I get upset over the same things, push people out of my life who I feel betray me, even though it might be a trivial matter. I can't say I've ever asked if someone was sexually excited, though. I enjoyed the movie. I liked Mozart & the Whale more.

I just found this indie movie on netflix about a guy with AS. Has anybody seen it? Is it a good movie?

Yep, a lot more realistic portrayal of autism than you see in most films too.

I hate the ending, though.

The ending was confusing and I would like to have seen the rest of the book but Adam started smiling oddly and there were credits and that was a bit of an anti-climax.

I saw this movie today. Ummmm... in my subjective opinion this movie is boring  At least the ending was a little surprising for me.

Really enjoyed Adam. watched it at the cinema with my wife. It made my wife cry. The sofa scene where they sit apart, that was me and my wife when we first moved in together - with my wife wondering why I wouldn't sit close and cuddle her. The scene where the girl in the film is crying and Adam stands there watching before she tells him to hug her - yep that happen two weeks ago with my wife and I - until she asked for a hug.

Anyway I liked the movie, I related a lot to the character of Adam - especially when he completely doesn't help the girl with her heavy bag - done that

The film was alright. I liked some bits but really didn't others. The part where he's on about the history of that theatre really pissed me off because they made him too rainman-ish.

I disagree, when it comes to facts about our obsessions we generally are like that, I know I am!

I do tend to spurt out facts and things too but not in the way he does, it was mostly his speaking style that sounded a bit rainman.

Fair enough, we're all different! But I can go on and on for hours about my obsessions! Ask me about the stock market and see what happens, you'll be there for hours while I explain technical analysis to you :P

It's a pretty common characteristic. My son has a very recognizably Aspie tone.

This thread made me want to watch it, so I downloaded it and am watching it now lol.
So far it's making me laugh solely because of how much I see myself in him.
I'm only a couple minutes in and already endless moments;
"Hey there, neighbor!"
"There are new pictures of saturn from the cassini project!"

Oh adam, I feel ya, man.

As a parent of a AS tween, the movie Adam inspired me to teach my son how to be self sufficient. The ending made me sad but ok with it at the same time.

I actually enjoyed Mozart and the Whale more - - maybe because the movie was set and filmed in my home town of Spokane WA. (well, truthfully I live in neighboring Spokane Valley, but oh well). But also because I just couldn't kick the feeling that I was supposed to feel sorry for Adam. At least, that was my take on it. Give me the capable and confident, if not often times clueless Sheldon Cooper.
